Eclectic: deriving ideas, style, or taste from a wide range of sources.

I sat at home, shaking the container of red pills. I had bought it at the convenience store on the corner. Part of me wondered if they were actually a good idea to buy. The guy that worked at the counter had given me a weird look when I requested them. I sighed and placed them on my nightstand. I grabbed my phone and checked it. I had fourteen unread messages. Two were from Ethan and the rest were from Aaron.

I opened up Ethan's first. I was curious to know why he was even bothering me.

Ethan:

What the hell is happening? Where are you?

Mr. Brin wants to talk to you, did you seriously leave school?

I replied.

Me:

Yup.

I opened up Aaron's contact and immediately smiled as I read his first text.

Aaron:

I think your grandma is going to kill me. Have you ever had to give a grown woman a piggyback through a whole park?
She's damn heavy for a frail old woman.

Help me! Don't you love me? 😆

I love you 😘

Oops sorry, was that too soon?

Hahah, now I know why you're not replying

I don't have friends

I just realized you're in school, I don't care though

You've gotta have time in between classes to reply to me!

Dang, you really must not lvoe me

*love sorry

Me:

My phone was off

His reply was instant.

Aaron:

That's a stupid-ass excuse

Me:

Sorry, the truth is I was following my porn star career

Aaron:

I knew it!

Oh crap, my boss noticed me on my phone! She gonna kill me, bye!

I laughed and fell back on my bed. I sank into the pillows and closed my eyes, thinking of Aaron. I wished I had painted Aaron's eyes instead of Ethan's. Why couldn't I have met him before I met Ethan? Maybe things would've been better.

I sighed and got up. I walked downstairs and noticed my mom sitting at the table. She was flipping through a magazine. She glanced up at me, took a bite out of her cookie, and went back to the magazine. She muttered something and threw the shiny-paged book onto the table.

"Stupid politics," she sighed and looked up at me.

"How was school, honey?" She asked, offering a plate of cookies to me. I sat down across from her and took one. I munched on it as I pondered what I should tell her.

"It was really great, actually," I said. I got back at Mia, and gave Violet what she deserved.

"That's good, are you going to the Winter Formal?" She queried, grabbing another cookie. I grumbled, I totally forgot about the dance.

"I don't have a date."

"What about Ethan?" She said, tipping her head to the side.

"He's going to be out of town," I lied, shrugging. I snatched another cookie and waved good-bye to my mom as I made my way towards the stairs.
