Jax stared in awe at the now four dead bodies, laying in the street, as Alpha pulled out her rag, wiping the blood off her knife. He looked at the bodies, noticing that Delta and Omega didn't shoot them in the head. They let them suffer.
"Alpha-- what the hell were you thinking? You can't just do that!" Jax said, as he began to walk towards her, until Omega suddenly put his arm out in front of him, holding him back. "Alpha!" He called up. "You can't just do that!"
Alpha finished cleaning her knife, as she slipped it back into the sheath around her waist, as well as the rag, which she put in her back pocket. "Well I did." She said. "And now, there's nothing you can do about it." She said, as she glared at Jax.
"No! They seemed like good people! You don't just decide whether someone gets to live or die!" Jax yells, as he got restless, as Omega held him back.
"I did what I thought was right for my people. Wouldn't you do the same?" She said, as she turned to face him.
Jax glared at her, as his eyebrows scrunched up. "Do you even know what you're doing?! How do you even know there's a community out there!" He yelled, pointing in the direction they were headed.
Caroline finally came out of the crowd, coming up behind Jax. "That's enough, Jax." She said.
"No! We deserve to know! We were pulled from our home in hopes of a more safe and secure place out there, and we don't even know it exists!" He yelled.
"You think I would give my people false hope?" She said, as she walked up to Jax, moving Omega to the side as she went face to face with him. "You don't know who I am." She said. "My people? They come first. Even if they aren't my people. Got it? I wouldn't tell them about some place with walls and safety, if I didn't know it existed. Now, we have places to be." She said as she turned around, putting her back to him. "Let's move." She called out, as she began to lead the group out of the town and back to the crowd of walkers.
Jax watched as she began to walk away, Delta and Omega following behind her, along with the group of people. Jax waited a minute, until it was only Caroline, David, Colton and Smithy who was with him. He turned his head, looking at the bodies in the road, as he walked up to them, pulling out his knife and stabbing them each in the head.
"Jax." Caroline said, as he stood back up, facing her. "We have to catch up." She said, as Jax nodded, as they caught back up with the group.
A few hours went by, as they continued to walk through Massachusetts.
"Jax doesn't trust her." David said, as he walked next to Smithy.
"I know." He said. "What're we going to do?" He asked.
"Like I said, keep an eye on her. Once we get to this community, we have to split from these people." David said.
"Do you think Colton is going to be willing to do that? He seems to have gotten attached to their way somehow." Smithy said, looking at Colton walk up ahead with the infected.
"He'll be okay. He's strong." David said. "I'm worried about Caroline."
"You are? She risked everything to be with Jax. She left James and Lisa behind for Christ sake. I'm sure she'll be willing to leave these people." Smithy said. "And it's not like she's just going to leave her daughter behind at the bunker. She's not like that."
"I know she's not. But I'm still worried she'll make the wrong decision." David said.
"You think she has in the past?" Smithy asked, looking at David, as he didn't give a response. Smithy walked up to Jax, who was walking a good amount of feet away from Caroline. "You two okay?" He asked, as Jax sighed, as he turned his head towards him.
"I don't know." He said. "I trusted Caroline on this decision, but I'm not too sure it was the right one." Jax said.
"I know." Smithy said. "You don't trust Alpha, do you?" He asked.
Jax shook his head slightly. "Not one bit." He said. "I trust Caroline, and she thought it was a good idea to leave Chloe behind and now--" He paused for a moment. "We don't even know if there's a safer place out there now."
"You love her, don't you?" Smithy said, as Jax glared at him.
"Of course?" He said confusingly. "I'm just not sure if this was the right choice." Jax said as they continued to walk.
"So what're you going to do?" Smithy asked, as Jax shook his head.
"I don't know. If this place Alpha is talking about is real, then great. But if it's not-- if it's not, and we risked everything for nothing, I'll be sure to put an end to this group, real quick." Jax said with a stern voice, but quietly.
Caroline finally caught up to Jax and Smithy, as she heard a bit of the conversation. "Jax-- you can't be serious." She said, as she walked next to him.
Jax continued to walk, not saying anything back.
"Talking about something like that-- it's not a good idea. These people, they aren't like us. They're ruthless, and they don't stop for anyone's nonsense." She said. "Please Jax-" She said, as she grabbed his hand. "I used to be one of them-- I'm still one of them, and if you can't--"
Jax gripped her hand hard, as he looked at her. "Well I'm not, Caroline. I'm a Survivor. Not a Roamer." He said, as he let go of her hand, walking ahead of her, leaving her behind him.
