Lisa gently opened her eyes, looking up at the ceiling of James's room. She pulled herself up, looking around at the empty room. She smiled as she remembered the previous night. She looked down at the floor, seeing blankets and a pillow scattered. James had let her take his bed for the night until she found herself a residence and he resided to the floor. She pulled her feet out from under the blankets and planted them on the floor. She stretched as she sat on the edge of the bed, as she let out a loud yawn that only she could hear. She stood up, walking over the blankets laying on the floor as she exited the room. She walked out of the residence and walked through the hangar. August was in the past and October looked bleak, as the air was chilled like death. She made her way into the medical tent, as James was already there with Dr. Panning.
"Good Morning, Lisa." Panning said, as James quickly looked over at her.
"Mornin'" James said as he saw her, following with a smile.
"Morning, fellas." Lisa said as she smiled at James. The two of them shared a quite a sentimental moment the past night. Lisa, being unknown of how James felt about it, tried to keep her feelings within herself.
Panning walked out of the tent as Tony Chapman stepped in. "Hey James, Lisa. Nice to see both of you." He said as he approached them calmly. "I have some news for the both of you. Two guard positions just opened up on the wall and well- I put in a good word about you two."
"You did?" James asked.
"Why would you do that?" Lisa budded in.
"Well because the two of you are experienced- actually might be the most experienced people in the whole hangar about the outside world." Tony said. "We've brought people in but, nothing like you two. You two are survivors."
"But we're safe just working in the medical tent, Dr. Panning needs the help anyway." Lisa said.
"Oh, he was fine before you two got here and he'll be fine after. Besides, I know for a fact James only turned down my offer before because you were still in here with your leg."
Lisa's attention darted at James, as she felt her chest get warm. "He's offered you this position before?" She asked.
"Yes- but that's beside the point." James said, hesitating. "We don't know if we're even going to be in the hangar bay for much longer."
"We?" Lisa said. "I don't know about you, James, but I like this place, and I don't need you calling the shots for me." She said, giving him a dirty look. "I'll take the job." She said, turning to Tony.
Tony looked at her with an unsettling look. "Are you sure-?"
"Yes." Lisa said.
James sighed under his breath. "We're safe here, in the medical tent."
"We're also safe here, in the hangar bay. Yet, you're thinking about leaving." Lisa said.
"James- get back to me about the position. I'll give you more details later, Lisa." Tony said, trying to get out of the awkward situation. "I'll let you two talk."
James smiled at Tony, then looked at Lisa, the smile dropping from his face. "Lisa, I'm just thinking about how we've survived out there for 3 years-"
"We barely survived out there." Lisa said.
"Samuel is unstable. You've seen the things he's done. He was going to kill his brother-"
"But he didn't. He didn't, and in doing so, he made this place better. It was good that he won, it actually seems like he knows what he's doing, unlike others."
