The sun was about mid-way through the sky, as the Roamers continued to walk through the woods, heading towards Rhode Island. Alpha, who was still leading the large group, raised her hand up, putting it into a fist, as everyone stopped in place. They waited a few minutes, until all the walkers slowly passed by them. Alpha turned, leading the group down a road and into a town.
"What's going on?" Colton asked, turning to Kevin.
"We're recovering." He said.
"Recovering?" Colton asked confused.
"At the end of each week, at noon, we leave the group of walkers and recover with blood." He said.
"Why don't we just recover with the walkers that travel with us?" Colton asked.
"They're our transportation. We meet back up with them in 10 minutes. They don't walk too fast." Kevin said, as the group walked into a small town.
Alpha walked up to a street light, pulling out her knife, tapping it against the metal, as walkers came out from the houses in the town. Alpha, Delta, and Omega put them down, cutting them open, as the rest of the group came over and began to cover themselves again. Jax and the others all hustled around two walkers, as they began to reach into it, recovering the blood-suits with blood. Alpha, who was the first to finish, stood up, looking ahead down the road as she suddenly saw four figures in the distance begin to grow larger. She walked towards them, assuming they were infected, but suddenly realized they were a small group of people. She whistled quickly, as Delta and Omega hurried over to her, both pulling out their rifles. Alpha got on-top of a car that was in the road. It was burned up and clearly broken down.
The group of people continued to approach the Roamers, as they raised their arms up.
"That's far enough." Alpha called out as Delta and Omega kept their guns aimed in.
Jax finished recovering his suit as he looked up, walking over to Alpha. She turned her head, looking at Jax. "Stay back." She said, as she turned once again, facing the group. "Who are you?" She called out.
The man leading the group kept his arms up, "my name is Ashton! We mean no harm!" He called out.
Alpha glared at the man, as something clicked in her. "Put the guns down." She said to Delta and Omega.
"But-" Omega tried to say.
"NOW." Alpha yelled, as they lowered the guns. She jumped off of the car and approached the man as she pulled her knife out, and a small piece of cloth from her back pocket as she began to clean the blade. Delta and Omega followed close behind her as she walked up the group.
Jax watched as they approached the group, as he turned back to the others who had just finished recovering.
"What's going on?" David said as he hurried over to Jax.
"I don't know." He replied, as they came up behind Alpha and the others.
"We're just passing through. We don't want any trouble." Ashton said, as he lowered his arms. There were three other people standing behind him, two other men and a woman.
"Looks like you've already ran into trouble." Alpha said, pulling her attention to the man's bloody hands.
"Oh— yeah. There were some biters up the road. No biggie." He said.
"Yeah. No biggie." Alpha replied, glaring at the man.
"Do you people have a camp? It looks like you're pretty well geared." Ashton asked.
"No." Alpha replied in a stern voice.
"Well where are y'all heading?" Ashton asked.
"Oh I didn't know this was an interrogation?" Alpha said sarcastically yet sternly.
"It's not. It's just- we've been on the road for a while now. It would be great if we could find some sort of safety." Ashton said.
"That would be great, wouldn't it?" Alpha said.
Ashton glared at her. "Hey what's your problem?" One of the men behind Ashton called out.
"Billy- shut your mouth." Ashton said quietly. "Look, if we're just gonna stand around here like a couple of idiots, we'll gladly be on our way." Ashton said.
"No-" Alpha said. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude."
Ashton looked at her, as he was ready to move on. "It's fine, really,"
"No its not." Alpha said. "We've been on the road for a while too and it's been hard. We're all tired and just want to find safety ya know?" She said.
"Yeah, we feel you. Hey— I wasn't going to tell you this but we heard rumors about a large community up in New Hampshire. We were heading that way now. It's going to be a long walk but if we all join together maybe we could—" Ashton stopped suddenly as the sharp sensation of a freshly cleaned knife smoothly entered his neck, and with one quick motion, it was pulled back out.
Ashton's hands quickly tried to cover the wound, as he fell to the ground. Alpha stood over his body, holding the bloody knife, as Delta and Omega raised their guns up to the rest of the group.
"HOLY SHIT!" Billy cried out, as he went to reach for his pistol around his waist, as he suddenly felt a shooting pain in his hand, as the boom from Delta's rifle fired off. Billy fell to the ground, holding his mangled hand, as the woman fell to his side in an attempt to help him.
"What the fuck is wrong with you people! Have mercy!" The last man in the group called out, as he stood there with his hands up.
Alpha glared at him, as she turned to Omega and nodded, as he fired his rifle off into the man's chest. He turned the rifle to the woman, firing it off again.
Jax lifted his hands off of his ears, as he turned his attention towards the group on the ground. He stared in awe of they all began to bleed out.
"Have mercy— on our souls." The man who was shot in the chest softly said, as he closed his eyes.
