James walked out of the church and headed down towards med bay to speak with Lisa. He swept away the covering and entered the tent, seeing Lisa resting in the bed. Her eyes were closed and she looked quite peaceful. James was about to take another step when a group of people suddenly stormed into the tent. It was a group of three soldiers, two of them having their arms around other as they carried him into the tent. James stepped out of the way as they laid the soldier down on one of the beds quickly, as Dr. Panning rushed into action. He quickly grabbed out of the injured man as he grunted in pain due to his bleeding arm. James watched as Lisa woke up, looking at the scene play out. Eddie put a rope around the man's upper arm as he then began to operated on the torn lower half. Three of the man's fingers were torn off and he had a clear bite mark in his arm which was bleeding repulsively. Eddie began to sever the man's injured arm as the other two soldiers held him down. Samuel came running into the tent with two other men as they rushed him and Lisa out of med bay.
"What the hell?!" Lisa yelled as she was suddenly grabbed and pulled out of the tent along side James.
"I'm sorry but we can't have anyone in there at this time." Samuel said.
Lisa got back into her wheelchair as James stood beside her. "What the hell was that?" He asked.
Samuel sighed as he turned away, trying to ignore the conversation.
"Hey I'm talking to you!" James yelled as a crowd began to form around them. Everyone began to yell and panic at the commotion.
"The man was bitten." Elishah suddenly said as he came out from the crowd. "He was bitten by the dead."
The crowd began to grow louder in the fear.
"Settle down. Settle down!" Samuel yelled out.
Samuel and Elishah were now the only two people in the circle, as a large swarm of people stood around them. James watched and thought to himself, 'this is it. Elishah has a chance.'
"Now I know what he said sounds scary... but trust me when I say you're all safe and sound right in here." Samuel said.
"Those men weren't outside the hangar! How'd they get attacked?!" A woman from the crowd yelled.
"Samuel is dead wrong." Elishah broke in. "The horrors of the world are closer than all of you think. It's here and it's within us, all of you should know this. Now we might be protected from inside these hangars but that doesn't mean we're safe? It means we're on a timer that's bound to count down until zero and once it hits that marker, we have to be ready to survive. Now I can help make that happen, but only if you all help alongside me. We can't do this alone. If we come together- we can make—"
"Oh shut it with the inspiration talks." Samuel cut in.
The crowd let out a gasp.
"Now everyone knows my little brother has always leaned towards the crazy side of my family, but I can ensure you that I'm right next to my father and what he did for this place. My father built a well functioning, well maintained facility for all you, and if you take that away then what are we? Afraid? Alone? All of us individually to fight off the terrors of the outside world? Or can we come together to make this place what it was and what it always will be. A safe haven. Now what happened with my men was just a simple accident and I can ensure you, it's one that won't happen again." Samuel said. "Let's join together and let's help make this place great again."
About half of the crowd began to burst into cheers as the other half stayed quiet or booed.
Elishah scoffed at the sight of his brother's cheers. "This place is NOT safe. All of you should know that! If we join together and realize the dangers of the outside world and not just ignore it, we can make this place bigger and stronger than ever before. The soldiers were attacked inside the hangar. That's a fact! Now if we don't do something about that, than it'll happen to all of us too." Elishah said as he looked at Samuel.
Samuel laughed as no one in the crowd reacted to Elishah's statement. "Don't you see? They don't want to survive, brother. They want to live."
"If we don't survive..we die." Elishah said.
"So be it." Samuel responded. "How about! Instead of a vote to see who gets to lead this place...my brother and I have a fight to the death. It's a kill or be killed world now. We all know this." The crowd suddenly bursted into cheering as the sound frightened Elishah half to death. James stood in horror at the sound of the cheers and Lisa shook her head in disagreement. "What do you say, brother?" Samuel turned to face him, as Elishah stared him down.
"So be it." Elishah said as he held out his hand and shook it with his brother's.
The crowd cheered and raged with excitement, as James and Lisa stood there in fear.
A few hours passed and Elishah and Samuel were seen once again, this time in a ring. It was a small ring in the far corner of the hangar and the crowd formed around it. They stood in each end of the ring as James and Lisa stood behind Elishah.
"You don't have to do this. You can be better than this!" James said in his ear.
"I am no prophet, James. There's no way out of this." Elishah said as he stood into the middle of the ring as did Samuel.
"No knives. No guns. No weapons. Just us men and our fists, huh?" Samuel said as they began to circle around each other. "Out of all the ways I thought you'd die. I never once stopped to think it would be by my hand." Samuel said as he suddenly launched towards Elishah, punching him clear across the cheek.
Elishah took a few steps back as he balanced himself. "You know this doesn't have to be the way." Elishah said.
"No. It does." Samuel said as he launched at him again, this time Elishah caught his fist mid air. He swung his knee up, slamming Samuel in the stomach as he knocked all the wind out of him. The crowd bursted into cheers for the underdog.
"How can these people enjoy this?" Lisa asked from her wheel chair, as James watched anxiously.
Elishah now had the upper hand, as he stood above his brother. "You know, out of all the people I thought would've challenged me to a fight... you're the first one on my list." Elishah lifted up his foot, stomping Samuel in the face, as his nose began to bleed.
Samuel quickly stood up and caught his ground, as he spit out some blood at his brother. "You've gotten some good first hits in little brother. Sorry to say, but I was just getting warmed up." Samuel said as he ran at his brother, grabbing him around the waist and smashing him to the ground.
Elishah laid there helpless, as his brother pinned him down. Samuel began to punch him repeatedly across the face until it was red and swollen. The crowd slowly began to loose its flare, and Samuel noticed it. He got up from his brother, and raised up his arms in victory, as Elishah laid there lifeless on the ground.
"Now...I'm not trying to look like a heartless fool." Samuel said. "So in the name of family, I hear by disclose this fight. I think it's clear who won and for my first order of business...lock up Elishah Fitz. I don't want to see his bloody face walk in this hangar again.
Samuel's men came into the ring and picked up Elishah, carrying him away. James stood in disbelief about what just happened, as the crowd cheered for Samuel's unsurprising victory.
