The group had stopped for the night, as the sun was beginning to rise. Smithy was one of the first ones up, as he turned over, looking at the chained walkers, that were tied to the trees around them. He stood up, stretching, as he grabbed the blood-suit, putting it on. He turned, walking over to where David and Colton were sleeping, when he suddenly saw they were both missing. He ran over to Jax, shaking him slightly, as he whispered. "Jax."
Jax opened his eyes slightly, as he was blinded by the bright sun. "Smithy? What is it?" He said, as he rubbed his eyes, sitting up.
"David and Colton are missing." He said.
"What?" Jax asked, as he stood up, putting on his blood-suit. "What do you mean they're missing?"
"They aren't where they went to sleep last night." He said.
"You sure they aren't out taking a leak?" Jax asked.
"I don't think so." He said, as they walked over to their camp.
"That's weird." Jax said, as he crouched down.
"What?" Smithy asked.
"There's no tracks, no foot prints, or any sort of struggle. It's as if they were never here." Jax said, looking up at Smithy.
"That's not possible." He replied. "They were there last night."
"Well they aren't here now." Jax said, as he stood back up.
"This had to have been Alpha." Smithy said.
"Woah, woah. Let's not start accusing people. We don't know what happened, and I'm sure they will come back." Jax said.
"You said it yourself, Jax! It's like they were never here! Someone did this, and covered it up." He said.
"Smithy. Come on. Don't be crazy, okay? It's going to be fine, just brush it off." Jax said, as he began to walk away from him.
"Why doesn't this freak you out?!" Smithy said.
Jax stopped in his tracks and sighed, turning to Smithy. "Because David and Colton are strong. They can take care of themselves. So whatever happened to them-- I'm sure they're okay." He said.
Smithy sighed, looking into the woods.
"Look. When I get the chance, I'll speak with Alpha. But I'm sure it's okay." Jax said, as he turned back and walked towards his camp, leaving Smithy behind him.
"I'm not leaving without them." Smithy said, as Jax stopped again.
"Alright." Jax said, as he grabbed his gun and knife, as the two of them walked into the woods.
"You sure they won't leave without us?" Smithy said.
"Alpha said they weren't leaving until noon. We have time." Jax said, as they searched the woods.
A few hours went by, as Jax and Smithy found no sign of them. They joined back up with the group, as Smithy stood there, turning back one more time.
"I'm sorry, Smithy." Jax said. "They know where we're going so- they'll find their way back to us." Jax said.
"I hope you're right." Smithy said, turning and looking at him. "Becuase if you're wrong, I'm not going to have their blood on my hands. You will." He said, as he walked past him.
The day flew by, as the group continued on their way to Rhode Island, as they finally entered the new state. Jax and Caroline had started to grow distant from each other, due to their recent argument, and Smithy grew more and more suspicious about Alpha.
