James's eyes opened quickly as he laid still in his bed. It has been 6 weeks since Samuel was put in charge and everyone living in the hangar bay has grown to his new way of life. Before it used to be that you either had a job or you didn't, it was your choice. But now every person had a job. Thankfully, Dr. Panning had a spot open for James so he could stay close to Lisa as she healed in med bay.
James pushed the blankets off of him as he stood up from the bed and stretched. "Mornin' Tony." He said to his roommate. Tony was a guard for the hangar bay and was a well known resident around the place. Having him by James's side gave him power.
"Mornin' James. Sleep well?" He asked.
"Yep. Today's the day!" James said.
"Lisa's casts?" Tony asked.
"Yep." He said as he finished getting dressed and left the living quarters.
He walked through the hangar and headed towards med bay. Things were different now. No one has heard a word about Elishah for a long time, rumors even began to spread that Samuel ended up killing him or he killed himself, but either way, he was gone. James entered the tent, seeing Lisa resting quietly.
"You're here early." Dr. Panning said.
"Today's the day." James responded as he looked at Lisa sleeping.
Samuel walked down the dark, damp hallway beneath the hangar. He typed in a pin code and entered a secure room. There were lab tables around the room with paper and notes laid all over. The room was divided with a wall and a large window in it. The second half of the room had a door leading into it, but it was highly secure and locked. Samuel walked over to the class window and tapped on it. A walker suddenly jumped up and began to slam on the glass, trying to get to Samuel. He let out a small chuckle and began to continue his work. The sound of chains clanged behind him.
"Back to work, huh?" A voice said from behind him.
"Of course, brother. Not a day goes by where I don't think of a way to reverse this virus." He said, as he turned around to face his brother who was chained to the wall. "And not a day goes by where I don't think of a new way to torture so you'll help me."
"You can't break me. I'm stronger than you think." Elishah said, as his chains changed against the floor.
"We'll see about that. I'm making head way towards the cure anyway, brother. With or without you. Dr. Panning has helped a lot with it. I owe him most of the credit. I mostly just deal with the...experiments." Samuel said as he looked at the walker banging on the glass.
"You're sick, Samuel." Elishah said. "
"Maybe. But at least I'm not the one who's chained to a wall and hasn't eaten in a week." Samuel said and chuckled.
"I can help you." Elishah said.
Samuel's attention wickedly focused onto Elishah. "You'll-- help me?" He asked.
Elishah's chains tangled and dragged across the floor, as he nodded his head. A vicious grin widened across Samuel's face, as he pulled out a key from his pocket.
Lisa's eyes slowly began to peel open from her deep sleep, as the light made her eyes burn. She brought her arms up to her face and rubbed it firmly, as she yawned. She sat up in the bed and stretched, seeing James talking softly with Dr. Panning.
"Good morning!" Panning said as he saw her wake.
"Morning Doc- Morning James." She said as her hair stuck up in the back.
"Mornin'." James said. "You ready for today?" He asked, as Lisa gave him a firm nod.
She brought her legs out from under the covers. Her ankle had been fine for a while now, but her other leg was still covered in the large cast.
