It was finally the start of the second week of Hit the Stage. You had gotten one day off to relax after working nonstop for an entire week. You spend your free day trying to come up with a song that would fit well with the theme of envy. So it wasn't much of a day off. You had called Yugyeom and spent a few hours trying to work out what he wanted to do, and in the end, you both decided to do something completely different.
This week each idol could only have one dance partner that had to be the opposite gender of the idol. The performances Yugyeom has put on before all had so many people to make everything seem more interesting. Now it was just you two and you had to make a completely different dance.
When you arrived Monday morning to the dance studio you and Yugyeom were given a different studio, that was slightly smaller than the one you were in before but since it was just you and Yugyeom it didn't really make a difference. You thought Yugyeom would already be in the dance studio when you arrived but it was empty.
While you waited for Yugyeom to show up you stretched in the center of the room. Twenty minutes passed before Yugyeom walked in. You stood up greeting him with a hug "Sorry I'm late they asked me to do an interview" Yugyeom said. "That's cool wanna get started on the choreography?" You asked walking over to the music player, and played Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars. You kept most of the song as the original, but for the main chorus, you asked someone at JYP to edit a heavy bass drop and EDM music on top of the original lyrics so you and Yugyeom could do more than just contemporary dancing.
You knew that this week everyone would be doing more romantic and contemporary dancing and you wanted to stand out. You spent a few hours in the studio undisturbed with Yugyeom until they had a crew member come in and start filming you. Apparently, they needed more footage of Yugyeom and they wanted all the competitors on the main stage.
You walked with Yugyeom taking a seat on the lowest level of the stands and waiting to see what was going on. This week there were only two people from the past week still competing against Yugyeom, everyone else was new. Most of the idols you couldn't recognize except for Oh Sehun of EXO. Most of the idols here were very new and had recently debuted.
It had felt like an eternity of waiting by the time a crew member began explaining what was going on. They wanted all the idols and their partners to circle up on the stage and film a mini freestyle dance battle. Whoever won would get to choose the order for the live performances. "Let wait and go at the last second" Yugyeom whispered in your ear.
As soon as the music started almost everyone tried to jump in and start dancing. Most of the songs were upbeat and everyone was dancing about the same. You waited for a few minutes watching as one of the competitors took control of the stage and started b-boying with their partner. You thought you wouldn't be able to jump in until the music changed to a slow latin style song.
Everyone sort of stopped, not knowing how to dance to such a different song. The center of the stage was empty waiting for anyone to start dancing. You suddenly had an idea, you whispered to Yugyeom "Let's Tango" You grabbed Yugyeom's arm and pulled him to the center of the stage. You remembered that back on Valentine's day Yugyeom taught you how to tango. He seemed surprised by your idea, but as soon as he put his hand on your hip you were both doing the tango.
