David's pov:
When i finally managed to stop crying i decided to go outside to pick up my jacket and Simon's blouse from the driveway. When i stood outside my phone suddenly rang and i picked it up Not knowing who was calling me. It was my ex-wife Lara. She sounded worried so i tried to calm her down.
End of David's pov
David picks up his phone and hears the voice of his ex-wife Lara.
A Stammering Lara:''H-hi David it's me Lara''
David: ''Hey Lara honey what's wrong?''
An almost crying, stammering Lara:'' Alfred has a v-very high fever and he won't wake up! ''i've already called an ambulance. '' O-oh m-my g-god David our little boy is going to d-die!''
A calm but inside devastated David:'' Ofcourse he's not!''
A crying Lara:''Yeah he is! ''I just know it David trust me...''
David's voice cracked with tears:''Lara sweetie listen to me''Our son needs us right now and the last thing he needs is two panicking parents''
A crying, stammering Lara:''I-i k-know D-david but i'm j-just so s-scared!
David sighs:''Oh darling i understand''I'm scared too''Just as scared as when he was born four years ago''
Lara softly laughing:''Yeah i remember that very well''You were so scared throughout the whole labour that everyone had to tell you:''Breathe David just breathe'' Lara is going to be fine!'' It almost seemed like you were going into labour yourself''I've always found that so adorable and i still do''No one has ever worried about me like that ever since''
A smiling David:''Lara i'm your ex-husband remember?''
Lara:''Yeah i know that and although things didn't workout between us and we both had our different reasons to split up, despite all that you were a good husband David and you're still a very good father to our son Alfred who's now so ill''
A serious David:''Our indifferences has not perhaps made us the best married couple, But it has made us better parents Lara'' I want to thank you for all your honesty and your love''
A smiling Lara:''Thanks David you're right'' And i want to thank you as well for everything but especially for our little ray of sunshine:Alfred''
Alfred suddenly wakes up and Lara starts to cry again
An exstatic, crying, stammering Lara:''O-oh G-god D-David darling Alfred just woke up!''
David suddenly hears Alfred cough through the phone and breaks down crying
A crying David:''Hey champ'' Daddy's going to be with you real soon , okay?''
A very weak Alfred through the phone inbetween coughs:''Don't cry daddy or else you're going to make me cry!''
A very emotional and teary-eyed David:'' i'm sorry Freddy my boy Daddy is going to stop crying i promise''
