"And that is the story of how I fell in love with your father" I concluded the story and wiped the tear that fell from my eyes. My daughter smiled while Jacob came over to me and tried to comfort me. He hates seeing me cry.
"That is such a beautiful story momma," Katelyn says while standing up and going to get some juice. She always loved when I told stories about her father. I know that she misses him every day.
"Momma please don't cry. I know you miss papa but I don't like when you cry" Jacob said with sad eyes. I smiled sadly at him. Remembering my life with Jason always makes me tear up, I just miss him so much. He was too young for that fate.
"It's okay baby, I will be fine. I just miss your papa every day and telling stories about him just reminds me of how much he loved me" I explained. Jacob crawled into my arms.
"We all miss him, momma, that's why I always ask you to tell stories" Katelyn explained when she reentered the room. I smiled at her. She came over to us and joined us on the ground.
"I know sweety and I'm glad you ask for them. I would never want you to forget your father, he was honestly the best man I have ever met. I know that he's smiling down at us and he's super proud of the girl you have become" I told her and her smile brightened. I couldn't help but smile at her, her smile is exactly like Jason's beautiful one.
"Would papa be proud of me too momma?" Jacob asked while looking up at me. I kissed his cheek and nodded.
"Your papa would be incredibly proud of the man you are becoming. You are so much like him you know? In the way, you try to protect me every single day, he would be super proud of the way you have taken care of both myself and your sister" I told him and he chuckled while I patted his head. I stood up with Jacob in my arms and Katelyn stood up with me.
"I think It's time for bed. You have a big day at school tomorrow and we wouldn't want you both being tired, now would we?" I informed them while walking up the stairs with Jacob. Katelyn followed closed behind while playing with her teddy bear. I set Jacob down on his bed and he crawls under the covers. I kissed his head and walked back to the door. Katelyn was already in her bed and put down her teddy.
"I love you both so much. Sleep well and tomorrow I'll tell you both another story about your papa and me" I told them before closing the light and leaving the room. I smiled while walking towards my bedroom. I walked over to my side of the bed and decided to read before going to sleep. I looked over at the empty spot in my bed and frowned like I do every night. I miss Jason every day but it always helps when I remember him. I still can't believe that he isn't here with us anymore. I wish I could go back to that tragic winter night and prevent that crash from killing my husband. I would do anything to have him back, to be in his arms one last time. A tear fell from my eyes but I smiled. Jason would be so proud of his babies, they are growing up to be some amazing people and I couldn't be happier. I do wish I could be sharing this experience with the best man to have ever lived but I know that he's watching over us and that I will see him again one day. I fell asleep with the thought of one day being reunited with my love again one day.
The final chapter is now done. I hope you all liked this story. I really liked the idea of it so that is why I have decided to rewrite it. I prefer this ending to the original and it ends quite beautifully despite the death of one of the noblest characters ever. I hope you all enjoyed this story.
