POV- DAMIAN
"Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold and then add a thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?" I gave the order of one of my favourite cocktails of all time Vesper martini to the bartender. I took a seat beside Matthew who is still on his first glass and is in deep, deep, deep thoughts of I guess I know who. I look at him wallowing in self pity. This guy is hopeless. At least I still have my wing man, on my other side is Bryce who is obviously busy with, well, let's just not go into details.
"Here is your drink sir." The bartender smile and passed it to me. I took a sip of it and turned to Matt. He was still sitting the same way. "Hey Matt, what's wrong man?" I asked, though I already knew the answer.
He shook his head a little and turned his attention to me with a sad smile "Yeah, well you already know, don't you?", gesturing with a nod of his head towards the other end of the table, at the red head sitting with her own glass of drink. Huh! I knew it. I just nodded while patting his shoulder. "Don't worry mate.... she'll co..." I was stopped mid sentence.
"Hey Matthew, is that you?"
The three of us flipped our head in the direction the voice came from at the same time, and saw none other than Ashleigh walking in our direction with a small smile playing along her lips. Whoa!
My grenade's really hot, I thought as I looked her head to toes; I practically drooled when I caught first sight of her. Wait, what did I just say, "My?" what's wrong with me. I was pulled out of my reverie as she moved closer to Matthew giving him a really flirty smile. I know this smile, I get it from girls all the time. Why is she looking at him like that anyway?
"Yeah, I guess, my name is Matthew, so yeah it's me Matthew." Matt replied to her question with a bored expression.
I know they never liked each other, I don't know what exactly the reason was but they were always passing sarcastic comments at any kind of encounter with each other. They were more like frenemies.
Grenade moved closer to him still smiling and batting her eyelashes, "I was just thinking, why don't you move that sexy ass of yours up from that barstool and shake it with mine on the dance floor?" she moved real close this time and whispered loud enough in a seductive voice "We could heat up the floor, it's become too cold you know!" and then slowly moved back and winked at him biting her bottom lip.
DAMN she's good, WAIT what the hell just happened ASHIELGH just flirted with MATTHEW. WHY IN THE FUCKING HELL is she flirting with him. Am I dreaming again? If so, this is a bad, bad dream. Someone please wake me up. As I was debating with myself whether to ask someone to pinch my arm, I heard someone hoot at my side with a laugh, I turned and saw Bryce grinning at them I nudged him in the stomach with a scowl. He fell on a brunette behind him and began his ritual of flirting. I looked back at Matt and Grenade, well at least I know Matt's gonna say no. Why will he say yes? He hates her anyway and he is, as far as I know into someone else.
Matt was moving his head up down as if thinking it through. I internally screamed 'Say no!' He finally stopped and tilted his head to one side slightly and said "Yeah sure, why not?"
Ashleigh's smile grew bigger. "So, shall we?" Matt asked putting his hand forward. She slides her hand in his and winked "Gladly" she said. They started to walk away and towards the dance floor without a single glance in my direction. I need a rewind, what is happening here, what just happened here?! Why is Grenade flirting with Matthew and why did he accept it so frilling happily.
"Whiskey on the rocks, and keep it going until I say no." I gulped two glasses at a go. Anger, that's what I felt. But, why?
Why am I affected if she's dancing with my best friend or anyone for that matter? Why should I care I can have anyone too. Just as I was convincing myself, I heard a change of song and glanced at the dance floor where they stood. "Ride It" by Jay Sean began to play. And I saw Ashleigh move that hot body of hers against Matt's. I gulped another glass down.
