POV- ASHLEIGH
It had been two weeks. Wow totally didn't feel like it.
I'd gladly make it two years if I wasn't forced by my conscience to check on them. I was standing in front of one of the largest estate in the city.
It was a vintage brick building covered with some of the most exotic vines and creepers. All well-maintained by some of the best maintenance crew in the world.
I knew if I walked through the gates and into the backyard, I'd find a gigantic lawn, a playpen and rows of trees. Some of my most familiar companions.
It had been two weeks since I'd come here. The place that was supposed to be called home.
A place that was supposed to be filled with happiness, joy and laughter...but these are just mere words that never existed here.
They say a house becomes home when there is relationships, love and fights. In our "home" there was only the latter, well it has been for a while atleast.
Damn. I'm surprised my brain can't make a witty joke about this.
All I know is that this house is a poor excuse for love and happiness.
I knew there was no backing out, so I walked to the wrought iron gates and slid my card into the security machine. All this high-tech awesomeness...
"Good evening, Miss Olsen, choose from the following options." Said the mechanical voice. I called it Marvin. (for no apparent reason than that it looked like one)
I hurriedly pressed open the single gate on the touch screen. I took my card out and heard the gate open. I think I murmured, "Bye Marvin" and ran into the estate. I clicked the close option on the screen inside the gates and began walking briskly through the pebbled driveway.
I reached the large wooden doors and pushed them open with ease. No one was allowed past the gates unless they had a security card so the doors were usually left open.
Curiosity was wreaking havoc in my brain.
I walked into the hallway adorned by a large chandelier in its majestic glory.
I probably had the best childhood. All the toys were mine and everyone was my friend. I was popular for my and I quote, "Chubby Cheeks". I was a kid who loved food. Everything was the best. Everything and EVERYONE.
I had all the things imaginable. The family business was booming.
But all good things had to end. That's what they say, everything ends some day.
My dreams and hopes shattered on my 13th birthday.
The day seemed ominous enough. I was a teen now and everything was going well.
But that night, my life changed. A change that I would do anything to undo it, if only I could.
I walked in on...and then....
"OH MY GOD! Eww!!!! I refuse to exist on this planet anymore! Oh my! Be merciful, my lord. I'm scarred forever!" I yelled and ran around the room.
Desperately averting my eyes from the disturbing disaster in my kitchen.
Reminiscing about the olden golden days, I'd walked in on one of the most terrifying unfortunate circumstance that no kid who wants to be in their right mind should ever willingly see.
The most sleazy, all-out makeout session on the breakfast counter.
None other than my mom and dad. Just awesome isn't it!
