Chapter 5
Waves were crashing down our feet as we walk along the beach, oh and Shane was oddly quite.
"So..." he started.
"Hm?" I glanced at him. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it again.
I chuckled a little. "Hmm. Your brother is really cute"
"I'm cuter than him!!" he protested and pouted.
"Naw" But you're hotter, I thought.
Shane blushed but then smiled. "Thank you"
"For what?" I asked, confused.
"You just told me I'm hot" he nudged me playfully. The tingly sensation I felt earlier returned.
"I did?" I blinked. "Are you a mind reader?" I gasped.
"No you just blurted it out loud" he said, amused.
"I did?" I asked again. I mentally smacked myself. I prolly sound stupid. Zzz.
Ding.
Saved by the phone! YES!
I quickly pulled my phone out.
Fr: Kate
Dylan's on some kind of radio channel. He's about to call ya so heads up. Act like you like him.
I groaned and like magic, my phone started ringing. I shoot Shane an apologetic look and answered it.
I braced myself. "Hello?"
"Hi babe! We're on Radio 23. Say hI to the fans" Dylan's voice said over the phone.
"Hi babe right back and hello New York!" I said trying to sound cheerful and sweet. Yiek. Cheerful and sweet.. Gag. From the corner of my eye, I saw Shane raised his eyebrow, shooting me a curious look.
"Alrightie. Just wanted to check in. You never called me back" I tried my best to stifle a snort. I could tell by the sound of his voice that he was pouting.
I made a sour expression. "Sorry babe" I said airily.
"You're forgiven. Haftago. Miss you sweetcheeks" Gag, gag.
"Yea miss you too" I muttered then hung up.
I turned to Shane who was looking at me curiously. I faked a cheerful smile and continued walking.
"So what's your story, snowflake?" He said after a moment of walking. we were at the docks now.
"Why do you keep calling me snowflake?" I said, trying to change the subject.
He just shrugged. "Don't change the subject"
I sighed. "I'm a 17 year old girl trying to find a place in this world?"
He smiled. "That's nice but... hmm you told my bro that you didn't have a boyfriend when you just answered your
phone seconds ago talking to babe. Whoever that is. You avoided college talk with my dad and quote never had a home cooked meal since forever when your mom told my mom that you guys lived in a cabin in Canada before you bought a beach house here"
"Well wow aren't you a detective" I said calmly trying to mask out my shock. How did he caught all of that. Grr. I sighed "It's complicated detective" I simply shrugged. "All I could tell you is that I don't have a real boyfriend"
"Are you insisting something here snowflake?" He smirked.
"What? N-no!" I blushed and looked away.
