The Smell Of Blueberry Pie

Chapter 1

Nick's POV

Nick looked down at his phone, 6 a clock finally came around, Nick clocked out and headed out of Precinct 1. On his way out Judy was on her way in "Hey slick Nick are you heading out for the night?"
"You know it Carrots finally able to get outta here!"
"Well see you Monday Nick" Judy waved goodnight as Nick walked out the door. He started walking down the street when he heard Judy calling after him. "Nick wait up for a second!"
"What is it Carrots?"
"Can I ask you for a favor? It's really important!"
Nick rolled his eyes at Judy and sighed "Ok just this once, what does the Great Officer Hopps need from old Nick Wilde?"
"You remember me telling you about Gideon? Well, he's coming to the city tomorrow to try and start a second bakery here in Zootopia, and well my apartment isn't really for two..."
"Oh god Carrots what are you asking me to do?!"
Judy put her paws up in the air "All I'm asking is for you to pick him up from the train station tomorrow at noon and just hang out with him till I get off tomorrow?!"
Nick thought about what Judy told him about the former bully but now friend Gideon. She told him he was kind and a little nervous all around. He nodded "Sure Carrots I guess but you owe me big time."
"Thank you Nick it means a lot! I'll text you his number so you guys can work it out!" Judy turned and ran back into the station. What did I just get myself into Nick thought to himself as he got into his fairly new boughten car? On his way home Judy texted him Gideon's number and as he pulled up to his apartment building he got a message for the number

Gideon: Hi this is Gideon, Judy's friend she told me that you'd be at the train station instead of Judy?

Nick: Yeah this is Nick Judy's friend she ask me for a favor and I said it was no trouble. So it looks like I'll be there to pick you up from the train station around noon then?

Gideon: That's right and I just wanted to say thanks for doing this for Judy. And apologize if it's out of your way.

Nick huffed at himself, just like Judy said he seems very nice and a little shy. For some reason, Nick couldn't shake the little grin he got while he continued to text Gideon.

Nick: No it's no trouble at all I had nothing planned for tomorrow anyways. This gives me something to do.

Nick looked back at his phone when he saw this, why would he send me a picture? It's probably one of those stupid gifs like the ones Clawhauser sends me. Nick's grin fell and he opens the message expecting something incredibly cheesy but instead was surprised with a picture of a smiling, chubby, lighter shade of red-furred fox in a button-up plaid shirt. And Nick realized that the top three buttons were undone and his fuzzy chest was exposed.

Gideon: Just so you know who you're looking for in the crowd of mammals.

Nick shook his head and he tried to think of what to do next. Come on Nick get it together he was obviously just making it easier to know who I'm picking up tomorrow nothing more. Wait should I send one back so he knows who's going to pick him up?! Nick looked up from his phone as he reached his apartment door and unlocked it and walked in closing and locking the door behind him. He sat down on his couch and starts to go through his own photos after finding three possibilities, one of him in sunglasses no shirt in the Sahara District he decided against it and went to the next possibility. The next one was one of him and Judy together after he graduated from the Police Academy for some reason he felt like it just wasn't the right picture to send so he went to his last choice. A picture that he had forgotten he had even taken but it was of him lay on his bed and smiling up at the camera with his tropical button-up T-shirt without his tie on and the first button unbuttoned. Without much thought he send that picture to Gideon

Nick: Just to know who'll be looking for you in the crowd of mammals.

Nick reread what he send and dropped his phone in his lap and put his paws on his face. "Ugg I can't believe I just said that what am I doing!" He said to himself.
