Just a typical morning. This morning is different. I'm sleeping in someone else's house. The house I'm sleeping in is Alice's house. A really nice girl who shows a lot of feelings behind her actions.
It feels different. I didn't feel any anxiety or toss and turn like I usually did. There weren't any moaning sounds, twigs snapping, trees rustling, bushes rustling, or any other sounds. It was complete silence that I actually slept so peacefully. It feels better than sleeping on books or on the floor or anywhere else.
The smell of breakfast is in the air. I know immediately that Alice whipped up some breakfast. Two stacks of pancakes with an egg on top and two slices of bacon. I get out of bed, heading out of the room and go to the kitchen to see breakfast. There is two stacks of pancakes here with an egg on top and two slices of bacon.
"Good morning, Ray. How was your sleep?"
"It felt great. I never slept that good since three months ago."
"Still having sleep troubles?"
"Yeah..."
I pull up a chair and sit down, grabbing the fork and knife beside the plate of food in front of me. I can smell the cinnamon syrup covering the pancakes, making me drool. I don't hesitate to cut a small slice of the pancake, stab it with the fork, and bring it to my mouth to take a bite out of it. The minute it touches my tongue, my eyes go wide. What an incredible taste...!
I make sure to eat slowly to savor it. I need to savor this until I die. There's no way I can forget this. It's so simple, but there is such meaning behind it. The effort behind it, the love, and the care that shows such promise that I see that I have ate one slice of bacon, devoured the egg, and there is half a pancake on my plate.
"I knew you would like it. I even made seconds just for you."
"Yes! You're the best, Alice!"
I finish the rest of the plate. Alice giggles, placing three pancakes on my plate. I make sure to eat it slowly. That's how good it is. I just eat it slowly to keep savoring it until I become full.
I help Alice with washing the dishes and utensils. It's the least I can do for the awesome breakfast. Of course, it's the last breakfast I'm going to have. I glance at Alice, listening to her hums. I'm going to admit that I'll miss her.
We finish cleaning the dishes and sit down on the couch together. I stare up at the ceiling, sighing heavily. There's no words between the two of us. Alice leans her head against my shoulder and I find myself, wrapping my arm around her shoulder to give her comfort. She doesn't want me to go and neither do I.
Such a surprisingly normal moment between the two of us. I look over my shoulder to see Yukari. She's waiting for me outside, not bothering to interrupt. She's being considerate about this, so I'm glad she isn't doing anything mischievous. After about ten minutes, I get up.
Alice decides to see me off. She looks really worried about me. Shanghai doesn't want me to leave, either. The two of them look at me with pleading eyes that it's making my heart die. I want to stay, but I can't.
"Please, be careful."
"Shanghaiiiii~..."
"Don't worry. I'll come back."
Alice gives me a hug. A tight hug that I return as well. My chin rests on her shoulder, having my arms wrapping around her so tightly that I feel like I might crush her. It feels weird how much taller I've become than last time. I really am growing fast.
I find it in me to pull away from Alice, looking at her. I have to place my hands on her shoulders and keep her where she is. We stare for about minute until I turn around. I start walking to Yukari who looks at me. I stop right in front of her.
