Normani's POV

I slept really well last night, which is kind of shocking. I hadn't gotten a full night of sleep in about a year; but now that Vanessa is back, I seem to sleep a lot better.

I stretch my muscles out, before I notice something glimmering in the sunlight. I pull my arms back down to realize it's just the ring.

Wait.

I'm actually engaged now?

I look down at my hands again, and the ring continues to shimmer in the sunlight. "Wow....."

"I see that you like it," Vanessa says, making me look at her.

She's standing in front of the master bathroom with nothing but shorts and a tank top; but damn, she makes anything look amazing.

I finally decide to respond to her statement. "Yeah....I love it. It's beautiful."

"Do you actually like it? Because if you don't, we can always go back for another one," Vanessa says.

"No baby, we don't have to go back. I love it. I just wish you hadn't spent so much," I say.

"Oh please, you know I have to spend money on you," Vanessa says.

"No you don't...," I say, getting off the bed and walking over to her. "Even if you went to Walmart and got it for $20, I'd still take it because you bought it for me."

"Well...I guess that's a good thing..." Vanessa says. "Are you going to work today?"

I shrug. "I don't know...I'm not sure whether I should stay here and let you work or go in now and you stay home,"

"Go to work," Vanessa says.

"But then you won't be able to work," I say.

"Yes I will, your mom can watch the kids," Vanessa says.

I lift my eyebrows, slightly. "Hm....I'll ask her."

"Okay, tell me what she says." Vanessa says.

When she walks out, I immediately call my mom, who answers on the first ring. "Hello?"

"Hey mom," I say.

"Hey, what's up?" My mom asks, curious as to why I called.

"Can you watch the kids?" I ask.

"I hadn't planned to, but I can. Is Anna not there?" My mom asks.

"No, she's out of town," I say.

"Oh," My mom says. "What time?"

"Uh...." I say, looking at the clock. "As soon as you can?"

"Okay cool, I should be there in about a half an hour," My mom says.

"Great, Thanks mom," I say, gratefully.

"Anytime, see you soon," My mom says.

"Okay," I say, hanging up. "Baby!"

"Yes?!" Vanessa replies from the kitchen. But before I can reply, I hear her running to my room. "What is it?"

"My mom said she'll be here soon," I say.

"How soon?" Vanessa asks, curiously.

"Like....half an hour soon," I say.

"If that's the case, then why don't we shower together?" Vanessa asks.

"Baby....you know what happens most of the time when we shower together," I say, lightly chuckling.

"That's not even why I suggested it, I said it so we could save time," Vanessa says.
