Despite being absolutely determined as you entered Hux's office, you still did your best to fight off nerves. Your heart pounded as the buzzer rang.
"Come in." Hux yelled over stacks and stacks of paperwork. You could hardly find your way in through the maze. Finally, you saw him sitting at his desk and scribbling something out frantically on a pad of yellow graph paper. He looked pained.
"General," you said, "I never got to talk to you about the speeder yesterday."
You twirled your hair a bit as you said it. Hux seemed to snap out of his focus to look up at you.
"Oh, oh yes.." he said, "There were matters to attend to. There are matters... thank you...for repairing it."
He faltered a bit.
"What are you doing now, General?" you asked, "It looks very complicated... architecture? A plan? Are you building something besides Starkiller?"
You leaned perhaps too casually across the desk. Hux pulled the paper calmly backwards.
"You, Officer, are not supposed to look at these! But no, I am merely crafting a few backup bases for the First Order's troops... not to be known to anyone but Snoke."
          "Ah. So top secret then?"
Hux swallowed hard.
"Top-? No-No, not exactly- It's just a backup plan, of sorts. But officers are your rank do not have clearance."
You frowned.
"And what might it take someone to get clearance?"
At this point, you were leaning so far forward you thought you might fall over on top of Hux.
"Well," he said matter of factly, "I am sure one could obtain clearance if they merely moved higher in rank. Which you clearly are not."
"I worked with droids, Sir. I decode Resistance bombing patterns. I'm not a trooper."
Hux was silent for a moment.
"Well," he husked, "Perhaps if you worked on more personal projects for me I would CONSIDER promoting you. That is, only if you complete every task entirely."
Was he messing with you?
"Oh, but of course General. I would love nothing more."
Hux smiled.
"Good. We start tomorrow morning Officer-"
            "[y/n]. Officer [y/n]".
            "Officer [y/n]. I know your name, [y/n]".
He looked dead serious.
"Okay," you said, "We start tomorrow morning General Hux."
