Mr. Mark was at least one mile up the main road. This was towards the end of the forest, and there were many deer crossing and lots of road kill here and there. But once you passed the forest crossing, then the bridge that was over the river, which was pretty deep, the roads were clean, with no road kill in site.
Mark hate taking this road. Not only did you have to watch the road for roadkill while you are driving, but also keep your eyes out for deer. "I'm going to be rich, I'm going to be rich, I can sing this song, cause I'm going to be rich. And when I'm rich they see, no one can laugh at me, for now, I'm rich you see, respect is brought believe, I soon will be rich." he sang as he drove down the roadkill road. When he needed about half an hour before reaching the bridge.
Tomas was riding his bike as fast as he could. Thin, was on the back of the bike, and his weight made it a lot harder for Tomas. After a couple of miles into the chase. "Thin, we must stop. I can't go anymore. My legs feel like they going to fall off." said Tomas as he slowed down the bike, giving Thin time to step off. Then he parked the bike against a tree and sat on the gree forest ground. "What are you doing? Boy get up! We don't have time to lose." said Thin "My legs can't go any further." replied Tomas Thin grabbed the bike, "Boy hop on you and I have a fairy to save. I do the paddling now." said Thin as he was ready to ride off.
Tomas jumped on the back of the bike and Thin quickly took off. Up and down the hills they went on the main road. "I hope we're not too late." said Thin "I'm hoping the same thing," replied Tomas as the two boys went on their way to rescue Lukie from being sold.
Meanwhile, Mark was into his made-up song, when suddenly two deer ran out onto the road. Before Mark could step on his brakes, one of the deer hit his car head-on. Then suddenly many deer were running in the same direction. Pushing Mark's car over the embankment. Lukie knew he was over water, "Only if I can get out of here? I just can't open the lid." said Lukie as the saddle bag flew over Mark landing further up the river. Mark was trapped in the truck. The door wouldn't open He suddenly began to panic. The truck was sinking slowly. "I must try to get out. I don't want to drown, I want to live," Mr. Mark muttered as he continues to try to escape from the sinking truck. His saddlebag floated down the river.
Tomas and Thin were now reaching the riverside. As they got closer towards the bridge, "Tomas, that bags looks like my father's." he said as he parked the bike near the edge of the water. He quickly ran to grab the bag. Tomas stood by the bike.
