Kit knew exactly what he was talking about. Kit stopped seeing angels when she was ten. Kit thought it best not to tell him about it, though, so she tried to act like she had no clue what he meant.

"What do you mean? Like a cherub or something," Kit said, laughing it off but Will grabbed her shoulders.

"I'm serious, do you have an angel or don't you?" Will asked, more intensely. Kit looked over at Shawn and Lee, then back at Will.

"Okay, yes, but not anymore. I haven't seen an angel in like, six years. What's with the third degree?" Kit asked, feeling threatened. Will sighed, relieved and loosened his grip on her shoulders. He walked over to Shawn and whispered in his ear. Kit turned towards them and looked at Shawn, whose face went from a serious to an excited expression. He ran over to Kit, grabbed her and spun her in a hug.

"P-put me down," Kit said, weakly. Shawn realized how tight he was holding Kit and sat her down on a table, letting her go. He held Kit's face in his hands, and looked into her eyes. She kept looking at Will and Lee for consolation. "Why is this boy spinning me and hugging me and touching my face?" Kit asked Will with squished cheeks, Shawn still holding her face.

"I'll explain all of that later, but for right now, you need to get to class. What do you have first?" Kit looked down at the crumpled white paper on the floor and picked it up.

"English," she said with a sigh. Kit hated writing, but she enjoyed reading. But she had no idea what was in store for her so she was nervous. Shawn grabbed her paper and looked at it.

"Yes, but we have Math together after that," he said, smiling. Kit smiled back, slightly uncomfortable. She didn't really know him and she couldn't read him well enough to get any feeling. The bell rang for their first class to begin and they all split off. Kit walked into her English class and slipped into a seat near the back.

After Kit suffered through English class, Kit and Shawn met up and walked to Math class together. Shawn led her into the classroom full of stupid looking faces on stupid people. Shawn took Kit to a seat in the back of the classroom and they sat down together.

"Welcome back class, my name is Mr. Potts. The reason I'm introducing myself is because we have a lovely new classmate," the teacher said and Kit sank in her chair as people searched for her, some finding her, others not bothering. Mr. Potts was older, and in his late forties. He was a thin, gangly man who was starting to bald. He gave off a creepy vibe. Shawn leaned into Kit's ear.

"I hate this guy, he hits on all the girls," Shawn said, feeling grossed out at the thought. Kitlyn slowly turned and smirked at Shawn.

"Oh?" she said and started twirling her hair around her finger. "I don't know, he's kinda cute. I've been known to lik-," Kit said, jokingly, but Shawn slammed his hand down and looked her in the eyes.

"Don't say that. This school covers up so much shit, it's like its own government," Shawn said and Kit's chest tightened. "Do you know how many girls he's hurt?" Shawn asked and Kitlyn just stared at him.

She honestly didn't, she had only been in Carver for one day. Shawn was right, she never saw anything about a Potts or any conviction. When she was researching Carver online, she didn't see anything about any court cases or the law being broken at all. "Right, of course. You don't know," Shawn said and leaned back in his seat, letting out an annoyed sigh.

"Sorry," Kit said meekly, looking down. Shawn looked at her out of the corner of his eye. He held his pencil in her direction and launched it in front of her. She jolted back in surprise and looked up at him. She stifled her laughter behind her lips and looked down.
