The next morning, Kit walked to school and waited outside near the entrance for Shawn. She waited for about fifteen minutes before she realized she would be late if she didn't go inside. Kit walked through the hallway, thinking that Shawn could have been early. As she walked, a tall boy bumped into her sore arm. She held it and hissed in pain. Kit went to the back of the library and saw Lee and Will talking.

"Guys, have you seen Shawn?" Kit asked, looking from Will to Lee and back again. They were thinking.

"No, I haven't actually. That's weird, he said he'd be here today," Will said.

"I don't know where he is. I thought he was with you," Lee said, raising an eyebrow and smirked. Kit rolled her eyes impatiently.

"This isn't the time! We can't find Shawn!" Kit enforced the fact that Shawn was nowhere to be seen. Lee looked down.

"Sorry," Lee said, solemnly and Will comforted him.

Kit walked away in search of Shawn. She was looking through a swarm of faces; none of them were Shawn's though. Kit stopped in an empty hallway near the entrance of the school, near the gym locker rooms. She sat down on the bench near the doorway as other peers walked into the school.

Just then, Shawn walked in. He was wearing a black, wool coat and black sunglasses. The strangest part was that he had no snow on him at all. His hair looked damp but only in some parts, like it was just washed.

"Shawn!" Kit yelled with excitement and even relief, walking towards him. Shawn walked past her, ignoring her. "Shawn, are you okay?" Kit asked, concerned. She was jogging a little bit to be able to keep up with him.

"I'm fine," he growled and Kit furrowed her eyebrows.

"Come here," Kit said and pulled him aside, against a wall. "Something isn't right with you," Kit said and Shawn sighed. He reached underneath his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. Kit ripped the sunglasses from his face and threw them on the floor. Kit gasped.

His eyes were the color of coagulated red blood with random black squiggly shapes and a black pupil in the center. They were way more terrifying when he moved them around, trying not to look at Kit. It was like something from a horror movie. Kit thought for a second they were contacts but she couldn't see how; they so were seamless.

"Oh my god," Kit whispered under her breath. Kit backed away a little.

Shawn looked away. He knew Kit was scared of him and he felt like he let her down. He was supposed to protect her, not scare her. Shawn reached out for Kit, trying to comfort her, but it was no use. Kit crossed her arms over her chest, grasping her shoulders. They heard footsteps running down the hallway towards them.

"Hey, guys! You're not going to beli-" Kit turned to see Lee, trying to look in Shawn's eyes, but Shawn kept looking away. "-believe who I saw," Lee finished suspiciously and Kit nodded. Lee walked away and Kit looked back at Shawn.

"Please," he said, holding out his hand. Kit couldn't stop staring into Shawn's demonic-looking eyes. They were absolutely unsettling. Kit fidgeted with her hands, looking down and Shawn took back his hand. "Fine," Shawn said and walked away. Kit looked up.

"Wait, where are you going?" Kit asked, concerned.

"Homeroom," Shawn yelled back, without stopping. Kit didn't know about homeroom, she came too late in the day yesterday for it.

Kit quickly walked to her locker and opened it. There was a small shelf inside her locker at the top. She stood up on the edge of the bottom of her locker, holding the edge of the side. She looked into the small box and took out a crumpled piece of paper. She stepped down and straightened out the paper. Kit scanned the schedule she was given yesterday for her homeroom.
