"Hey Ned!" You and Peter say as you both walk up to your best friend.

"Hey y/n! Hey Peter! How was your date night?" Ned asks as you all start walking to first period.

"It was fun! We had some Thai food with May and Ben and then we watched a couple movies before falling asleep on the couch." Peter explained.

"So, what's the plan for tonight? We still coming to my place?" Ned asks as you three sit in first period.

"Yes! Star Wars marathon?" Peter suggests.

"Yes!" You and Ned cheer but then your phone starts ringing.

"Hold that thought." You get up and walk a little way, answering the call. "Hey Steve. What's up?"

"Its Peggy y/n. She's gone." You hear through the phone.

"No." A hand moves to your mouth as you hold back a sob. Steve always took you with him when he went to visit her and you two got extremely close so the passing of her affected you just as bad as its affecting Steve.

"I'm sorry y/n. I can call and excuse you from school if you wanna go to her funeral. I'm planning to head out in about an hour."

"Please Steve?"

"I'll call right now. I'll see you soon y/n/n."

"Bye Steve." You end the call and walk towards Ned and Peter, drying your eyes as you walk towards them. "I gotta go." You grab your stuff without making eye contact, hoping they didn't hear your voice crack.

"What?" Ned asks.

"Babe what's wrong?" Crap, he heard it. You continue to pack up. "Y/n." He grabs your wrist forcing you to stop. He moves his hand to your cheek, forcing you to look at him. "Are you crying?" You never noticed that you started crying again. "Babe what happened?" You wrap your arms around his neck and continue crying. "Shhhh. It's okay." He holds you until you calm down, which wasn't long. "What happened?"

"Just someone I was really close to died. She was close with Steve and he's taking me to her funeral. I have to meet him at HQ. I don't know when I'll be back though." You explain.

"Its okay. I'll see you when you get back. Text me when you get to HQ and wherever you're heading okay?"

"I will. Bye Pete. Bye Ned."

"Bye y/n." You walk out of the school and as soon as your out of sight you speed to Avengers Tower. As soon as you arrive you see Steve standing by the plane with two bags, one of them being yours.

"Hey y/n." You don't say anything but hug him, tears welling in your eyes again. "I had Wanda grab you some clothes."

"Thank you, Steve."

"No problem. Alright, let's get to London before we miss it."

You sat towards to front of the room, next to where Steve would sit after he finished walking Peggy's coffin into the church.

As Steve walked through and set the coffin, you could tell he was trying to be strong. Steve sat down next to you and you reach over and hold his hand, giving him a reassuring look as the minister speaks.

"And now, I would like to invite Sharon Carter to come up and say a few words." The minister states.

Sharon walks to the podium and takes a deep breath. Steve looks over to Sam who was on the other side of Steve. "Margaret Carter was known to most as the founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. but I just knew her as Aunt Peggy. She had a photograph in her office. Aunt Peggy standing next to JFK. As a kid, that was pretty cool. But it was a lot to live up to. Which is why I never told anyone we were related. I asked her once how she managed to master diplomacy and espionage in a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either. She said, compromise where you can. But where you can't, don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye and say, 'No, you move.'"

Steve stands at the front of the church. You and Nat both walk in and towards Steve. He hears you both coming to you and turns around, seeing who it is, he leans against a seat. "When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out she was alive. I was just lucky to have her."

"She had you back, too." Steve nods. You reach up and grab his hand again.

"Who else signed?" Steve asks, and you look at him and Nat confused.

"The Accords y/n/n. And to answer your question Steve, Tony, Rhodey, Vision." Nat says.

"Clint?" Steve asks.

"Says he's retired."

"Wanda?"

"TBD."

"What about you?" He directs his question to you.

"I'm not signing it anytime soon."

Nat sighs. "I'm off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. There's plenty of room on the jet." Steve sighs as you rest our head on his upper arm. "Just because it's the path of least resistance doesn't mean it's the wrong path. Staying together is more important than how we stay together." She moves closer to Steve.

"What are we giving up to do it?" You ask.

She stays silent. "Im sorry, Nat. I can't sign it."

"I know." She responds.

This catches your attention. "Then what are you doing here?"

"I didn't want you two to be alone." Steve looks down sadly as Nat pulls him into a hug, pulling you in as well.
