It had to be perfect. Everything did; the decor, the music, the food, the wine. Frank had spent the entire day trying to reach perfection in every area possible for his date tonight. He'd finally managed to get the lovely, but elusive Gerard Way to agree to a night with him.
After months of working with him and drooling at basically everything he did, Frank finally found the courage to ask him out. He'd almost passed out from nerves when he went to ask, but when Gerard said yes, and that he'd love to go out with Frank, Frank almost passed out from excitement instead.
Since Frank started working at the DC studios as an intern, he was instantly attracted to Gerard from the moment he saw him. From his wavy black hair to his glowing hazel eyes to the slight curve of his hips, Frank was infatuated. His heart would speed up whenever Gerard so much as looked in his direction, and his smile had Frank's stomach flipping and turning into knots. Gerard's adorable and nerdy laugh could cure Frank of any negative thoughts, lifting his mood immediately upon hearing the sound. If he were the one to be the cause of Gerard's giggle, Frank could get high off of the pride.
He felt this way every day when he got to see Gerard. Without even realizing it, he had completely captured Frank's heart. Frank hadn't had this big of a crush on anyone in a long time, high school probably, and even then that crush was nothing compared to how he felt now.
Frank was sure Gerard liked him to, at least a little bit. He did accept his date offer after all, but it wasn't just that. Gerard seemed to call Frank into his office more often than anyone else did, he was always asking Frank to do something for him, even if it was something really simple like getting him a new pen because the one he had ran out of ink. He always stood close to Frank, making the latter have to hold his breath and force himself to not reach out and touch the other. He smiled at Frank often, which Frank wasn't sure if that one could count because Gerard was a very kind man who smiled often anyways.
Frank shook himself out of his thoughts, and instead redirected them to focus on the task at hand, which was perfecting his home for his date. He spent the next couple hours cleaning everything. He dusted anything wooden, polished the countertops, bleached all of the bathrooms, scrubbed the toilets, swept the tiled floors, and vacuumed all the carpeted rooms. He even went as far as to vacuum the couches, and wash the sheets on his bed. He didn't plan on doing anything sexual with Gerard on their first date, but he certainly wasn't about to say no if the other man asked.
Once his house was spotless, Frank took a moment to sit back and think about what food he'd cook for the date. Gerard said he'd be coming over at six, so that gave Frank another hour to prepare everything. He decided on fettucini alfredo, but without the chicken. It was simple, but nice enough without being too fancy. Frank also managed to find white wine buried in the back of his fridge. He didn't like the taste as much as other beverages, but it was more romantic than a bottle of beer, which was the majority of the alcohol he had. It didn't take too long to cook, but he wanted to be ready. He set to work on cooking the pasta, taking breaks while he had the chance to find candles in his house and set them in the dining room and living room, lighting each one carefully.
When the food was finished, Frank glanced at a clock, noticing he had about thirty minutes before Gerard was supposed to arrive. It then dawned on Frank that he was a mess, as he had stains on his shirt from cooking. He made his way to his room, taking in his appearance when he looked into the mirror that hung over his dresser. Splatters from the pasta's sauce littered his front and his sleeves were wrinkled, his hair damp with sweat from the stovetop's heat. Frank peeled off his dirty shirt first, instead pulling on a black button down. He then stripped out of the shorts he had been wearing and found a pair of black pants that matched his shirt. Frank combed his dark hair to one side, studying it to see if he liked how he looked. It was always a difficult thing to do, and somewhere in the back of his mind he thought he wasn't attractive enough to have a date with someone as gorgeous as Gerard.
