We do eventually fall asleep again, together, but we are abruptly awoken by my rather unimpressed looking older brother. He is stood directly in front of us with crossed arms and a clearly angered look set on his features. Maya looks very scared and begins slowly edging away from my side, or maybe Gerard's glare. "Mikey...?" He says, sounding unimpressed as I reach out to take a soft hold of Maya's small hand. "Come with me please Mikey..." My brother says. His tone tells me there is not getting out of this and he is clearly annoyed about something..... i just don't know what.
I nod, reluctantly letting go of Maya's hand and following as my brother leads me to the kitchen. In this house everyone uses the kitchen for serious conversations. I kind if feel like a little kid getting told of for taking too much candy without permission. Not a sixteen year-old who was just asleep on the sofa. Gerard finally turns to face me completely, running a hand through is hair. "You could have at least told me!" He starts. I don't even want to hear another one of his protective older brother speeches. He's been like this ever since mom and dad died. I love him, but he is so demanding, it's hard to deal with sometimes.
I ignore his fairly long lecture and walk away when he has called down a little, returning to an anxious looking Maya. "He's mad, isn't he?" She says when i walk back into the room, i nod solemnly, sitting softly down next to her and wrapping my own thin arms around her small shoulders. Her arms find their way to my chest, her hands laying flat against it. We just sit for a very long time i peaceful silence, oblivious to the world...
