The Masquerade

Your figure slips through the busy crowds
With your black mask held high
I whisper instead when I try to shout
Everything has fallen awry

I reach out to you but I barely touch
The sleeve of your brown vintage coat
Those eyes that hide, that I love so much
Know we're riding the same sinking boat

I've been chasing you day after day
Been trying to know who you are
Now we've ended up in this alleyway
Isolated, alone in the dark

The people have all went and gone
It is only you and me
This intricate game I've finally won
With a prize I'm afraid to receive

A source of light appears out of nowhere
Aimed upon the details of your mask
Up to now, you never seemed to care
Have avoided me when I try to ask

The truth that is fighting a violent war
Is something that I want to know
What kind of person you really are
Not this cold-hearted piece of stone

You slowly raise your hand to your face
Carefully lifting the hard piece of plastic
The chase has ended and in replace
My heart goes full on ecstatic
