The Ocean

Waves crash softly against the rocky
shore
Bringing whispers of secrecy a girl had once sworn
To keep underneath her feet, that are now painfully sore
Burnt by the scorching sun that wanted nothing more

But to be the sun those stories called "bright"
Those books that described it as the "fresh morning light"
The sun that joined the picture of the wind and the kite
And yet it is the sun whose heat she shall fight

Below the blazing star, lie the rocks and the shells
Half-buried in the sand, simply waiting to be compelled
By the strong blue waters, who changes where they dwell
Every now and then, forever, in this everlasting spell

The soles of her feet begin to cool down
Upon touching the waters, sinking into the ground
Eyes, gleaming at the new beauty they have found
A content smile on her lips instead of a tired frown

The ocean makes sounds; it has a scent of its own
She felt something different, as if she had known
This vast view of blue throughout the years she had grown
As if she had never been exactly alone
