James
"It was some time last summer and the weather was similar to today's," I start," I took you to Parkside park, which is basically a big circular patch of grass in the middle of one side of town. Theres usually fairs and the like but when its not is use for that people just go there to chill. So for our first date we spent the afternoon there having a picnic and just talking and joking around. It was really fun, to be honest..."
"But?" Millie promts.
"But then the weather changed and it started to pour it down. But you being hard headed as you are, instisted we stay and watch the rain. And thats what we did. We found a tree by the edge of the park and we cuddled, watching the rain just like you wanted, and-"
"And then we had our first kiss". She finished for me.
"How did you- oh my gosh, you remembered!" She remembered! I cant believe this. My plan has actually worked.
"I remembered." She sits up abruptly.
"It really came back?" I ask, too shocked to process the information.
"It did!" She grins, hugging me. For a moment I'm frozen, but I recover quickly and hold her tight.
"I'm so happy for you," I whisper into her hair. Truthfully, I am really happy for her but again it scares me because if she remembers what caused the accident, I'm afraid she wll hate me and I really don't want her going into a stress induced coma. I wouldnt be able to cope with that.
"I dont know how to thank you for helping me with this," she pulls back just enough to be looking at me. Our foreheads are touching and i can feel her warm chocolate flavoured breath. Well i know about a 101 ways you could thank me right now but i wont go into that.
"Well, it might not be raining but now seems like a good time to reenact the best-" but i dont get to finish my suggestion since she goes and does it for me.
The rest of the afternoon is spent talking, promting more memories, which is actually becoming quite easy the more we do it, teaching her more sign language and best of all tasting her cherry red lips.
"Look," i turn Millie around so she can look at the setting sun. I watch her face as she takes in the view. Gosh, she one of those people who are so beautiful that you can never get tired of looking at.
"James, what is my favourite colour?" I chuckle at the question because the first time we watched the sunset she decided that this shade of orange was going to be her favourite colour from then on.
"Orange- that shade of orange," she smiles and keeps her eyes focused on the view.
"My brother and I used to steal our parents' liquor and climb to the roof.Talk about our future, like we had a clue.Never planned that one day, I'd be losing him.I was June and he was my Johnny Cash, never one without the other, we made a pact. Sometimes when I miss him,I put those records on. But I guess It's time to face the music, I'm no longer his muse." I feel Millie's hand on me and turn to her with blurry eyes.
"I can't pretend to know how you feel but know that I'm here and know that I'm real. Say what you want, or don't talk at all, I'm not gonna let you fall. Reach for my hand because it's held out for you. My shoulders are small but you can cry on them too. Everything changes but one thing is true, understand , l'll always be more than a friend, okay?." She says, squeezing my hand.
"Maybe okay can be our always," the qoute falls out of my mouth by its own accord but either way it makes me feel better.
"What do you mean?" Her eyebrows scrunch up in a way that only she could make look adorable.
"Its my favourite qoute from ' The Fault in our stars', great book." I grin at her and she smiles back.
"Okay."
"Okay."
