Chapter Eight: We're A Happy Family

There was no denying the time Johnny and Diane had spent together, had greatly strengthened their bond. However, the weekend was over now and it was Monday. It was time to return to School. Once school was over, they each had to go back home, back to their families.

Neither John or Diane were looking forward to facing their parents. On any other Monday, they would say they couldn't get out of school soon enough, but not today. Regardless, Johnny still walked Diane home from school.

When they arrived at the McNeil residence, it was Johnny who knocked on the door. He would do anything to protect her. Though, Diane didn't need protecting today and she knew this.

"Really, John. It's ok. You can go home."

"I just wanna make sure your alright."

As soon as the door opens, Mrs. McNeil has her arms wide open and Diane runs straight into her Mother's arms. Mother and daughter are both in tears, as Mrs. McNeil cradles her little girl in her arms.

"I'm sorry. I'm never running away again!"

"I know, honey. And I shouldn't have hit you. You have to understand darling, I just want you to have a better life than what I have."

"Well, I'm gonna get going now." Johnny says as he starts to take off.

"Actually Johnny, would you like to stay for dinner?"

"Sure. Thanks."

We're going to my room to study." Diane yells, as she grabs Johnny by the hand and the two run up the stairs to Diane's bedroom.

"Leave the door open, Diane!"

"So, this is your room?" Johnny says, looking around the room.

"Yeah. You like it?"

"Yeah. I do, actually. I have that same Beatles poster."

The two teenage lovers have been sitting on Diane's twin size bed in silence, for some time now.

"Ok. This is just awkward. We're not talking or anything. What's wrong, John?"

"It's just, I wanna kiss you, so bad, but I don't know if I should or not. I don't know if your mom will catch us and I don't wanna get you in any trouble."

"I don't think she's gonna be coming up here, Johnny "

"Well, in that case..." Johnny takes Diane by the hand and pulls her close to him.

"I love you." She says with a smile, which in turn makes him smile.

"I love you too."

Once Johnny's lips met hers, she was able to experience a brief moment of pleasure that she hoped would last for all of eternity. They continue making out while while the song 'Will you still love me tomorrow' plays on the radio. This was now known as their song.

"Diane Mary McNeil! I thought I told you to leave the door open!"

"Sorry Mama, I didn't hear you come in."

"Anyway, your father is waiting downstairs. Hurry up you two, dinner is ready."

Johnny and Diane are now exiting Diane's bedroom, as they turn the corner Johnny pins Diane against the wall. Diane's heart is racing and her breathing is out of control. He smiles seductively at her before kissing her neck.

"Where are you going so fast, beautiful?"

"Johnny, you know exactly we're going. Now come on, we don't wanna get caught, again!"

"We won't get caught. Besides, I can't stop thinking about you and the other night." Johnny whispers.

With that, she wrapped her arms around Johnny. Johnny pauses, as he takes a second to grasp just how beautiful she was. He wanted to tell her again, for the millionth time. Though he knew words could not accurately describe her beauty.

Johnny slowly brings his lips to hers and places a gentle kiss upon them. Both parties are experiencing total bliss at this moment in time. Though it is soon interrupted by Diane's older brother, Matt.

"Oh, how romantic!" A voice whispers sarcastically.

The two sweethearts are forced to break their kiss prematurely.

"What the hell do you want Matt?"

"Mom and Dad told me to come up here and get you guys. Dad is starting to get really angry by the way."

"Ok. We're going."

By the time the children arrived downstairs, Mr. McNeil was already sitting at the head of the dining table. He had a tall glass of beer in one hand and a fork in the other.

"It's about time you kids show up." Mr McNeil says firmly.

"I told them to hurry up, Dad." Matt says, taking his seat at the table.

"When I say it's time to come down and eat, then you get your ass down here! You know this already, Diane!"

"Yes, Daddy!" Diane replies meekly.

"By the way, this is my boyfriend, John."

"It's nice to meet you, sir."

"Have a seat, John. Eat. I'm not gonna ask why you decided to run away with my little girl. We're just glad she's back."

John and the McNeils all enjoyed a nice quiet dinner. Once they were finished, at the request of Mr. McNeil, they all went to the living room.

"Ok John. I'm gonna talk and your gonna listen. My sons and I are hard working men. Construction workers. I just want you to know, that we have no problem kicking your ass, if you hurt her in any way."

"I believe what my husband is trying to say, is just be careful. I got pregnant and had to get married at a very young age. We don't want the same thing to happen to Diane."

"Mr. and Mrs. McNeil, Diane and I love each other very much. I have no plans to hurt your daughter. I only wanna make her happy."
