You sit comfortably against a tree, reading a book and waiting for the sight of Qrow's figure in the distance. It's hard to become absorbed in your book when there are butterflies flying all over your body.

You hum softly, anxiously tapping your foot.
"Did you miss me?" A husky voice whispered in your ear. You jumped, reflexively throwing an elbow towards the sound, realizing a second later that it was only Qrow. He staggered under the force of your blow, as it took him by surprise. "Whoa there sweetheart, we're not there yet." You blushed as you realized where you had hit him.
"I'm sorry, you scared me, it was an accident I swear--" Qrow put a finger to your lips, effectively silencing you.
"It's okay, sweetness," he said, shooting you a flirtatious smile in an attempt to hide the pain. You thought it was sweet that he was trying to look alright so you wouldn't feel bad, then blushed some more at the thought.

Qrow took a swig from his flask. "Alright, come at me," he said, taking a step back and holding his arms out in a nonchalant gesture, leaving himself exposed. You took a deep breath and threw a punch at his stomach with everything you had. He took it, appearing not to be affected by it, grabbed your wrist, and in a second he had you in front of him, your hands behind your back, held firmly in his grip. "First of all, we're going to have to do a bit of strength training sweetheart," he said. You could smell the alcohol in his breath. He spun you around. "Not bad though," he chuckled, releasing your hands. "We can get you a weapon later, but for now I wanted to give you an overview of the basics. I'm not a specialist in hand to hand combat, but there are some things you should know before you're given something that could seriously hurt someone." You flushed a light shade of pink. Qrow appeared not to notice.

"First off, we need to strengthen your aura... You know what aura is, yes?" You nod. "I'm going to activate yours. Just trust me." He placed his hands on your heart. His hands were calloused yet his touch was gentle.

You felt a surge of warmth from inside you. Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you could sense the raw power in your veins, your life force flowing through you. It felt so... familiar.

"Aura can create a barrier between you and harm. Learn to use your aura and you'll have a constant layer of protection around you." He paused. "It can be used offensively as well, but let's start with defense first." You nodded.

"I want you to tap into your aura, letting it protect you. Hit me again. You'll see how I use it." Taking a deep breath, you punched him again, with everything you had so you looked less foolish. Your fist made contact with him but he didn't budge. You felt an energy around him, and thought that maybe you saw the hint of a dark crimson glow.

"Alright. Now I want you to spar with me, and focus on keeping that barrier active while staying on your toes."
"Okay... Don't go easy on me," you joke. He laughs. You hesitate, and in a flash you're on the ground, not knowing how.
"You gotta work on your stance, sugar." You stand up and look at him, silently asking for help. "Here, it's kinda like this..." He says, adjusting your body. You become aware of his hands on your hips and flush. Focus, [Y/N], you've got this. You had a long way to go...
