"Heyyyyyyyyyyyy [Y/N]," Ruby began suspiciously, peeking over the couch and tapping your shoulder. You raised an eyebrow. "Do you wanna go to the Beacon Dance with us?" She asked innocently. "Team RWBY is planning it and it's going to be super duper fun and we'll all dress up--" at this thought she grimaced slightly--"So, uh, yeah, you should come!" She smiled at you earnestly.

"Whoa, slow down Ruby," You laughed. You knew her well enough to understand her when she talked too fast for most people, but you also knew her well enough to tease her about it. She pouted. "Am I even allowed at the Beacon Dance?" You inquired.
"I didn't think about that... Sure, why not? We're bringing Zwei!"
"Ruby, we are not bringing that ball of fur to an event where people are dressed in nice clothing!" Weiss shouted from her desk.
"I don't see a problem with it," Ruby shrugged. Qrow would have said the same thing. You adored his lovably careless nature.

Why was that man finding a way into your thoughts at nearly every hour of the day? Ruby gave you an inquisitive look.

"I don't know Ruby..." You hesitated.

"Pleeeeeeaaase," She looked at you earnestly. "At least think about it." You nodded. Going to a dance was appealing, though you didn't know anyone outside of Team RWBY.

"I'm not gonna go," Blake muttered from her bed, her face buried in a teen vampire romance novel.

"Uhhhh, yes you are Blake," Yang said pointedly. Blake sighed in frustration.

"You know I'm busy Yang." Her eyes were red from lack of sleep.

"Blake, I don't think this obsession is healthy," Yang retorted. Ruby was about to interject, concern in her eyes for her friends and for her team.

I should go, you mouthed to Ruby. She nodded. "I'll fill you in later," she whispered before taking a deep breath. She worried about letting her team down, but you had always known Ruby to have a certain charm about her. Though she often let her tongue run away with itself, when a conversation bore importance she somehow managed to pull through.

You smiled to yourself as you closed the door, still looking over your shoulder as you walked down the hallway.

"Hey! Watch where you're going you dolt!" You snapped back to reality and realized that you had run into Weiss as her books came crashing to the ground. You immediately dove to pick them up.

"Sorry Weiss..." She only scoffed and turned her head away, not even accepting your help with her books. You sighed. There was nothing you could do to please that girl. Continuing on your way, your footsteps were silent as you walked down the hallway. The light of the setting sun shone through the windows as you passed by. Not too long ago you would have been nervous to be walking home so late, but after training with Qrow you felt confident you could handle it. As far as you were concerned, there was nothing the night could throw your way that would ruin your vibe.

Lamplight illuminated the streets as you walked across the cobblestones. It was silent except for sounds of drunken laughter coming from the bar. You glanced inside as you walked by and were almost surprised you didn't catch sight of Qrow. Perhaps he was fulfilling his duties as a huntsman.

"Hey babe." You screeched, jumping back. Only now did you notice the drunken figure leaned against the wall of the building.

"Qrow! You shouldn't be out so late."

"I could say the same to you," he said, emptying his flask. You sighed.

"You're drunk. I'm not sure either of us should trust your judgement right now." Qrow laughed.

"I'm nOT dRun--" He collapsed. You rolled your eyes, though he couldn't see it, and slung him over your shoulder. You weren't about to leave him on the street so you had no choice but to take him home with you. It was funny. Just a few minutes ago you never would have imagined you'd be spending your night like this.
