Ch.6||First Whisper of Problems

"Why Cindy!!".
I jotted out of bed at the sudden interruption of my sleep. I could hear mum's quiet sobbing through the thin walls of the house and dad talking in a harshed tone. Why was she crying? Dad never made her cry.
My curiosity getting the best of me,I swang out of bed and put my cold feet into my bunny comfies,feeling the warm comfort it brought.
Tiptoeing around the bed frame, I made my way to the door and creaked it open only wide enough for me to slip out.
I could hear mum and Dad's voices coming from their room.
"Drew,please keep your voice down"
"Why Cindy, I want to know why"
"I had to,it was the only way for us to be safe, my biggest mistake was leaving her behind"
"Why didn't you tell her,now she's bound to find out soon and you better have a good explanation".
I could hear Dad pacing around the room and mum's quiet sobbing.
Who was her and what was she bound to find out soon.What did mum mean when she said she had to keep us safe.This was all just too much,I couldn't take it anymore, I had to see what was going on.
I walked into mum sitting on the dressing table sobbing and Dad at the other side of the room.
"Honey!what are you doing here",
Mum said standing up, wiping the tears from her puffy eyes .
"What's going on mum and why are you crying",
"Its nothing darling, you should go back to bed"
I looked to Dad for an explanation but he gave me none,his stare blank and his jaws set in a strong line.
I've never seem Mum and Dad fight before, this was something new and I needed to know what was going on.
"Darling please go back to bed",Mum said ushering me out the door and towards mine.
She tucked me in and held my hands in her palms tightly.
"what's wrong Mum",
"We're going to be okay honey, I promise",she said staring off into space then she snapped out of it and placed a wet kiss on my forehead."Goodnight honey, sleep tight".

I was running.
I don't know what was chasing me but the urge to run was impulsively great.I tried to register where I was but the fog was too thick and I just kept running like I was on a road that had no ending.
"Angelica stop!"
Someone called out from beyond the fog.I stopped and looked around, there was nobody there, just thick fog swirling around making whisps of smoke.
The urge to run was even greater now and I started running forward again.
Then I saw a figure up ahead, it looked like a girl but I couldn't make out her face.
I ran faster to get to her then........

Bang!bang!
"Angie wake up,your gonna be late"
Mum's voice came from behind the door.I groaned and turned to the bedside alarm, 7:20 it read,now I'm surely late.
I tried my hardest to forget the dream as I made an attempt to stuff down the bacon and egg with toast.
"What's wrong honey",
"What?"
"You've got that look on your face when your thinking hard about something",
She said waving her hands in the air like there was some kind of invisible fly in it.
"Its nothing ,I'm just thinking about what to do this afternoon with Freya",I replied, casting my eyes down so she couldn't tell I was lying.
"Oh okay,better eat that faster cause we gotta go".

School was buzzing with the news of the drama club performance that was gonna be held in the afternoon at the theater room. I found Freya leaning on my locker,she looked uneasy and ruffled.
"What's up",I asked as I took out textbooks from the locker.
"I'm kind of having a nervous breakdown right now, you know with the drama production and all".
Oh I forgot that Freya was in the drama club so she'll be performing. The flyer I received from her was probably stuck in one of my textbooks.
"Don't worry I'll be there in the crowd cheering you on",I said giving her a sincere smile.
"Thanks Angie, your the best",she said pulling me into a bear hug.
"Hey Freya",came a voice beside us.
We both turned around to see one of the boys from the cafeteria,the short one with his girlfriend.
"Oh,hi Nick,Alexys",Freya said smiling at both of them.I smiled too.
"Glad we caught up with you, can we do a last rehearsal before we take the stage?",The girl Alexys said.
"Yeah sure, 3pm fine?",Freya asked.
"Yeah",Nick and Alexys said at the same time.
"Oh by the way, this is my friend, Angelica,Nick and Alexys,Nick and Alexys,Angelica",she said gesturing towards me and them.
"It's nice to meet you ",I said smiling.
"You too",Alexys said smiling.
"We better get going period one is about to start, see you around Angelica".
With that they were off,Nick's hand resting on Alexys hips as they went.
"Cool friends you got",I said eyeing Freya.
"Oh shut up".

The drama club put up quite the performance. The play was a modern version of Romeo and Juliet played by Nick and Alexys.Freya played Juliet's cousin and the rest of the cast.I spotted one or two of the students I had classes with in the play too.
"That's was really great, I swear",I said hugging Freya as we made our way towards her car."Thanks Angie,now come on we best get home".

I was running again .
This time the fog was even thicker. I couldn't see past my fingers. The feeling if being chased caused goosebumps on my body.
I heard my name being called so I looked up and saw the same girl I saw before.
Trying my best to see beyond the fog I pushed through the road as I made mg way towards her.
I was getting closer and closer, then she turned.
She was me!.
