The Summer holidays were drawing near and I had less time to worry about Zion because the term exams where some weeks away and I had to put my head down and work for a good grade.
At the same time ,I was excited as hell for the summer holidays. All that sunshine and days I would spend on the beach with Freya. Just thinking about it made me giddy.I didn't talk to Zion after the incident slash argument. But I did notice that he hadn't attended school since Tuesday.
Freya spent most of her afternoons with Richie since he got a car and could come visit her and go back between the towns,so I was left with a heartbroken Charlotte (Brandon had asked them to take a break from each other) and Tiffany. Fiffany had gone away from town for a little while, although she would be back in time for the exams.Although I was trying my hardest to seem busy,I couldn't help but wonder what Zion was up to. Once or twice I debated picking up my phone to call him but then the annoying face of Jenelle registered in my head and I placed my phone back on the table.
Everybody seem to be going through something, the boys didn't sit with us anymore, in fact they all don't seem to be attending school at all.
I realized that when Friday came around so I asked Tiffany about it.
"I don't know, I'll ask Eggy about it",
"They just don't want to see us anymore",Charlotte said solemnly.
"Heard anything from Alexys?",I asked.
"She's busy with the Summer Drama acting thingy",Tiffany replied.
"I want to drink a lot of alcohol and get drunk",Charlotte piped up.
"Charlotte!you should get a hobby and stop stressing about Brandon, he didn't leave you, your both just on time out",Tiffany snapped at her.
Charlotte sniffed and glared at Tiffany under her eyelids.
"Easy for you to say, your not the one feeling the heartbreak, you've got good old Eggy to go home to".
"It's not my fault your clingy as hell",Tiffany retorted.
"Cut it out!",I snapped at both of them.
They both went back to their snacks but Charlotte kept giving Tiffany a dark stare.
I sigh and got up, I couldn't stay in this depressing table anymore otherwise I would die of insanity.
"Hey,where are you going",Charlotte asked.
"I'll be at the library",I replied.
I left them looking like they were gonna give it another go.The library was quiet and peacefully.
Finally some peace and quiet.
I picked out a random novel on the fiction section and sat down to read.
I was in the middle of chapter fifteen when I heard footsteps drawing near, closer to where I was sitting.
I looked up and saw Josh smiling down on me.
I realized i hadn't seen him since the beach bash.
"Hey Angie",he said.
"Josh,I haven't seen around school for quite a while, you been somewhere?",I asked.
"No,no,I just had been busy",he laughed.
"Busy?",I raised an eyebrow questionly.
"I have to get my grades up before coach lets me on the field again, so I've been coming here quite often",
"That's great to hear",
"What are you doing here?",he asked.
"Just reading",I said shortly,no need to tell him about my problems and there was definitely no need for me to act like a damsel in distress.
"Okay, mind if I join you?",he gestured to the seat beside me.
"Not at all",I replied.Freya had no plans with Richie that afternoon,so she gave me a lift to the café in town.
We bought our coffee and some doughnuts to go with it and chose a seat near the window.
"So how are you holding up?",she wiggled her eyebrows.
"What do you mean",I asked, deciding to play dumb because I didn't want to talk about it.
"Oh come on,I know you miss him,and I know for a fact that you've been wondering why he hasn't attended school ",she bursted out.
"Fine. That much I can admit",I sigh.
"Why Angie?, he's not good for you",
"He isn't,that's what makes him different, he's bad but in a good way, he has the best smile....he..",
"Gosh, okay,Stop!",Freya exclaimed with a bemused expression.
I just smiled to myself and went back to my coffee.Edwin walked in with Tiffany by his arms. They joined the people waiting in line.
It wasn't long before Tiffany spotted me and waved excitedly, turning around to whisper something to Edwin before turning to wave again.
They joined us at out table moments later.
"Hey Ed,Tiff" ,I nodded.
"Hey Angie,Freya",Edwin nodded in return as he sat down.
"Where are the rest of the gang?"I asked.
"They're around, you know",Edwin said slowly, stirring sugar into his coffee.
"How about you, you okay?",
"Yep, why shouldn't I be?",I asked.
"I just thought your not taking it that hard",he explained.
"What do you mean?"
"It's Zion",Edwin sigh,receiving a warning look from Tiffany.
"What about him?",I asked slowly sipping my coffee.
"He's been getting drunk you know, and has gotten more involved in the gang business",he said, watching me carefully.
"Oh" was all I could say.
"Zion never liked her",Tiffany piped up.
"Really?",I asked disbelieved.
"No he never did, he just hung out with her because her dad is his boss",Edwin explained.
"He didn't kiss her back,he was just acting along with her because her dad had asked him to watch out for her",he continued.
"Why does Jenelle need protection?",Freya asked.
"I really don't know, all Zion said was;some gang is after her",he shrugged.
"We have to get going or we'll be late for our movie",Tiffany said standing up.
"Thanks Ed",I nodded his way.
"Sure, just thought you should know, although Tiffany had to convince me on it",he chuckled, giving Tiffany a hug.
"Well thanks again",I smile.
We said our goodbyes and they left, walking out the door with their hands linked.
I smiled as I watched them walk across the street. They were both something else.
