Ch.8||Tutor

"Zion kuwonu, you should know him, you have biology together", he said peering at me behind his half moon glasses.
'Know him' is an understatement, I thought to myself.
" Oh yeah I see him around "
"Good, you may leave", he said turning back to the papers on the desk.

The day I was dreading came around and I had nothing but to look forward to the tutoring.
My free periods where in period five and six ,so straight after lunch, I made my way to the study hall, Freya following close behind, something about making sure I was safe.
"So if he tries to grab you, kick him in the nuts or something"
"Are you serious, come on Freya I'm going to tutor him, not a battle"
"Oh,you may never know, boys like him who are in a gang got a lot going on"
"Oh whatever",I said rolling my eyes and adjusting the bag straps.
We reached the study hall and walked in. I could see students discussing with other students, some had charts and papers on the tables. I scanned the room and my eyes landed on Zion's familiar face.
I started towards him, Freya still following.
"Hey, you must be zion", I said casually, putting my hand out. " I'm Angelica, I'll be your tutor  for as long as you need "
"Nice to meet you", he said in a deep voice,  shaking my hand, he had a awfully strong grip.
" Hey you, you better not do anything to my friend or you are getting it from me", Freya said looking him up and down.
"Freya! ", I said giving her a warning look.
" Don't worry, I won't", he said smiling easily at Freya.
"Angie if he dares to do anything, come look for me"
"Sssh Freya I'll be fine now go before your late", I said pushing her towards the door.

" I'm really sorry about that my friend's just concerned "
"Don't worry I get that a lot", he mutted.
I sighted and sat down pulling out some papers I thought we could through.
" I thought we could go through these just to see where you are then we'll pick up from there and move on "
"Okay"

We worked in silence for some time. Him working on the first paper while I looked through some.
"I'm done", he said handing me the paper.
" Okay let me take a look"
I looked through the Surds I gave him to work on.
"Now see here, these are root numbers like 25 and 12,what you have to do is find  its square roots like 25 is 5 which is root 5 x root 5 is equals to root 25 which simplified is 5,you understand? "
"I think so" , he said running his hands through his golden locks to which I couldn't help but stare.
"You want me to explain again? ", I asked.
He just nodded at me.
I explained again the concepts of square roots to him.
" Now do you understand ?"
"Yeah pretty much"
"Now try root 48"
I watched him do the calculations on the worksheet.
"How about now?", he said handing me the paper. I took a look at it.
" Yup you've done this right ", I said giving him a smile. " Can you do the rest of it? "
"I think so"

Rin-g went the bell signaling end of period 6.I started putting papers into my folder. "I'll see you next week and we can move on to the next topic by then, you did well today" I said standing up.
"Thanks Angel"
I turned around and looked at him.
"It's Angelica"
"I like Angel, it suites you"
I felt my face heat up at those words and looked down at my face to hide my face.
"But if you don't want me to call you Angel then it's fine"
"No Angel is fine", I said tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
" Let me walk you to your locker "
"Uh, why? " I asked, obviously paranoid.
"Because I'm passing through there to my next class"
"Oh okay thanks"

We walked in silence, neither of us speaking, just our footsteps sounding on the tiled floor.
"Why did you move here?", he asked breaking the silence.
" My dad got a job offer here, so we moved "
"How are you finding Fairhaven so far? "
"It's great"
"Just great? ", he asked, watching me from the corner of his eyes.
" You know it's fine, it's not like the city but it's fine ", I said shrugging.
" One of my friend's from the city, he moved here about two years ago "
"Oh that's great"
"Yeah"
We reached my locker after a few feet.
"Here we are", I said stopping beside it.
" See you around Angel ", he said walking on towards the next hallway.
I watched him as he was about to turn the corner he turned and looked at me.
I quickly opened my locker and pretended to put books in but my eyes caught the smirk on his face as he vanished around the corner.
I shook my head and took my textbooks out and stuffed them into my bagpack.
'Angel' he called me, said the name suited me too.
Shut up I mentally told myself as I made my way to next the class.
