(9) Splash Battle

                         Tommys POV
        "So, where are off to now?" I questioned the others as we began to walk through the forest. We had just woken up in the morning, and we were now heading deeper into the forest. "Tommy, we JUST explained where we're going. Why weren't you listening?" Cory asked. I shrugged, "I don't know." I said simply. Uni sighed in annoyance, but he was still smiling, "From the direction we're taking, it seems like we'll be spending a few hours or so passing through this forest, then we should arrive in the city of Malas Noticias." Uni explained simply. I nodded, "Oh, okay. Thanks." I said embarrassingly, knowing that I should've listened the first time. Nick, who was walking beside me, chuckled lightly, and I shot him a playful glare.  "Something funny Nicholas?" I asked with a smile. Nick glanced at me, "No, no, no, nothing at all. It's just that you'd think that someone with ears that size would listen better." He said with a smirk. "And you'd think that someone as smart as you would know when to shut up."

      Nick laughed, "Oh? You think im smart? Im flattered." He joked. I scoffed playfully, "Yeah, don't take it personally. I don't think your ego can get any bigger anyway." I said witha smirk. "Hey! What's that supposed to mean?" He asked defensively. "Oh, don't take it to heart. You're a vampire. You were born with an ego the size of a dragon." I said with a shrug. Nick just laughed, "Heh, well at least my kind isn't born with the brain and confidence the size of a grape." Nick countered. I gasped with over exaggerated suprise, "How dare you!?" I gasped, my hand over my heart playfully. Nick rolled his eyes and looked forward. "Come on peanut brain. We're falling behind the others." Nick said, speeding up his pace to catch up to the others. "Im right behind you bat-breath." I huffed, jogging slightly to catch up to Nick.

      "Hey guys, there's berries over here!" Jon called to us, from slightly behind us. We had been walking normally, and he had stopped when he had spotted the berries. I stopped and looked back at him, as did everyone else. Then I realized how hungry I was. I hadn't eaten in days. I walked over to him and looked at the berries he was looking at. They were small and light blue, but they could definently be poisonous. You can't trust anything in a forest like this. "Careful, they could be deadly." Ashlie warned, walking over to us, followed by the others. I huffed in annoyance, "No duh, Ashlie. I wasn't gonna eat them. What do you take me for, an idiot?" I questioned. She was silent for a few moments, as was everyone else. "Uh, don't answer that." I said quickly, then looked back at the berries.

      "Hey Tom, you lived in a forest, right? Do you know about these berries?" Jon asked. I looked carefully at them, "I did, but i've never seen these before." I answered. Nick walked walked up beside me and looked at the bush full of berries, as if he was studying them. "Hhmmm... These look like Blue Bundle Berries, which are edible, but those can also be easily confused with Blue Battered Berries, which are deadly." Nick murmured. "So, if we eat these, we have a fifty fifty chance of dying?" I asked, and Nick nodded. Cory shook his head, "It's not worth the risk. And we have bread, so we'll be fine." He said. I dighed, and nodded in agreement, and the others did the same. But Uni said nothing, he was just standing beside me, and sniffing the air. Then he picked a berry. Cory lookex worriedly over to him, "Uni, be careful! Those could be deadly!" Cory said cautiously, his voice having a worried tone. Uni sniffed the berry, then he quickly put the berry in his mouth.

      "Uni! No!" Cory screeched as Uni began chewing the berry. Cory jumped to his side worriedly, "Uni! Spit it out!" Cory screamed, but Uni just swallowed the berry, and turned to Cory, a frown tugging his lips. "Uni! Why'd you eat that!?" Cory asked worriedly, and Uni bared his teeth in response. "Cory, you know perfectly well that I can smell toxins inside some plants! And I can also smell if a fruit is ripe, so stop treating me like a small child that just ate a coin!" Uni growled. Cory looked gulity as Uni continued, "Im not an idiot! I wouldn't eat a random fruit!" Uni snapped. "Uni im sorry! I was just worried about your safety!" Cory countered sadly. Uni just huffed, "Well the berries are safe, so you guys can eat them." Uni said simply. And with that, we began picking some berries to eat.
