I yawned and rolled over. When I opened my eyes I saw that Emily was already awake, staring at me.
"How are you awake before me?" I asked and she leaned over and kissed me.
"I'm just excited baby." She smiled big. I couldn't help but smile back. I put my hand on her cheek. Today's the day we get the procedure done. We decided to do an at home procedure, where the doctor comes here and do whatever she has to do. I'm nervous a little, okay- a lot. Only because if this doesn't work then Emily would have wasted a lot of money. When I say a lot I mean A LOT.
*Flashback 3 weeks ago
"Okay the way you're explaining it, you're saying that having a "fresh chilled sperm" insemination has a better chance of working then getting a frozen one?" Emily asked the doctor. The doctor nodded her head.
"Yes Mrs Fields. The chances are higher because the sperm is not frozen. Sperm that is fresh has a 72 hr lifespan after it has been inseminated vaginally as to frozen which barely last one day." I looked at Emily and saw her nod her head. Well this is definitely different than last time. She ran her hand through her hair.
"How much does it cost getting a fresh insemination?" I asked.
"The cost for the fresh insemination is $18,000." My eyes bucked as the doctor continued. "That's not including the IVF treatments you would have to take 2 weeks prior to the procedure to increase the chances of this being successful." the doctor further explained.
"So how much are we looking at Doc?" Emily asked getting to the point.
"Around $23,000. That would cover the IVF doses and the procedure."
Emily nodded her head for a few seconds. "Okay."
"Wait, could we have a moment please?"
"Certainly." the doctor got up from the stool and walked out of the room. I turned toward Emily.
"Em, babe that's a lot of money. You just bought the warehouse." She nodded her head.
"Als we knew it would be expensive to start off with and I didn't buy the warehouse by myself." She reached for my hand and rubbed it with her thumb.
"But I thought it would be like a few thousand. Not twenty three thousand. Are you really willing to put twenty three thousand dollars down on 'hope' that this would work."
"Yes I am. I would spend more if that meant we're having another baby together."
I looked at her worriedly. "What if this doesn't work? You would have wasted your money and we wouldn't have a baby."
She shook her head. "I wouldn't have wasted our money, and if it doesn't work...it doesn't work. We could look into adopting a newborn or not. No matter what, I wouldn't see this as a waste. That is one of the best doctors to do this type of thing out there, and I think we should take a chance." She gave me a little smile and I smiled back before kissing her.
"Okay let's do it." I whispered to her as I leaned my forehead against hers. She smiled and got up from her seat and opened the room door and asked the doctor to come back in. She smiled toward me.
"We'll do it." We both said at the same time. The doctor nodded her head and got up from her seat.
"I'll get the documents printed out for your signatures."
"Ali?" I blinked and looked at Emily.
"Yeah baby." She waited a few seconds before talking again.
"You completely zoned out. Do you really want to do this... Or are you doing it cause I want another baby?" She looked nervous as she rubbed her hand down my arm.
"I really want to do this Em. I admit the first few times you asked, I wasn't ready for another baby. That's why I never said anything or I just brushed it off. Now I can't wait to have another baby with you by my side."
She smiled and kissed me. "Remember whatever happens, happens. I won't see this as a waste if it didn't work out."
"How is it you know what I'm thinking?"
"Because I know you Ali." She tapped my nose with her finger. "Come on let's shower and get ready for this. Good thing we're getting this done at home so you can be comfortable and relaxed." We walked into the bathroom. "Everything is sterilized so it shouldn't be any problems." I put my hands on her cheeks.
"It's okay to be nervous Em."
"I tried to keep it from you." I raised my eyebrows
"When have you ever been able to keep anything from me?"
"Never I guess." I started the shower and turned and faced Emily. I put my arms up and she laughed and lifted the shirt over my head. She rubbed her hands down to my hips while biting her bottom lip. I grabbed the bottom of her shirt and begin to lift it. She moved my hand and quickly took her shirt off and gently pushed me into the shower.
*At the end of the day*
I was laying in bed with Emily playing with her fingers while we watching The Vampire Diaries. Just relaxing. I could barely keep my eyes open but I wanted to watch this episode. I jumped when I felt Emily kiss my forehead.
"I wasn't sleep." Emily laughed and lightly squeezed my hand.
"You were literally snoring babe." I pouted.
"No I wasn't." I rubbed my face with my free hand.
"We can watch this episode tomorrow. Honor is with your mom and dad for two more days, so you could relax in this time."
She laid on her back and I smiled as I laid on top of her. She rubbed her hand down my back and stopped right before she reached my butt.
"Give me a kiss." She said. I raised up and kissed her for a few seconds before kissing her neck and laying my head back on her chest.
"Goodnight Als. I love you." Emily whispered as she tightened her arms around me.
"I love you too." I said as I fell asleep.
