Emily had just finished getting dressed when the doctor walked into the room.

"Alright, Ms. Fields. You just need to sign these release forms and you're good to go."

"Finally!" She exclaimed as she took the clipboard from the doctor. I laughed a little before grabbing my purse and taking my car keys out.

"Is there anything she should avoid?" I asked the doctor since it seemed like Emily was just focused on getting out of here.

"Any strenuous activities are off-limits at least for another week. Just until her ribs are fully healed. She needs to come here in a week so that we can do a check up. The cut on her forehead has healed but she still has to put ointment on it for a few days. Also, I know that she's not going to like this, but she shouldn't have heavy foods right now. Her stomach won't tolerate it."

I made a mental note of everything he was saying. "Okay, thank you. I will make sure she's here in a week."

"Ali, are you ready?" Em looked at me.

"You're the one that's getting released, Em" I said while laughing. When I walked toward her she smiled.

"Remember, Ms. Fields, no strenuous activity for another week." The doctor said to Emily before walking out of the room.

I smiled at Emily. "Ready to go to the house?" I asked while walking out of the room with her.

"Actually, can we stop by my parents' house? They gave my belongings to my mom when I was admitted. I also need to get a new phone."

"Okay. On the way home we can stop to get something to eat."

"Do you want to eat now?" She asked while we made our way to the car.

"No, I ate before I came here this morning." I opened the car door and threw my purse in the back seat before getting in. When Emily got in she stared out of the window with a frightened expression.

"Em, you okay?" When I touched her arm it was like she was snapped out of her thoughts. She looked at me and took a deep breath.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just... never mind." She said while shaking her head.

"Just what?" I looked at her.

She looked down for a minute and when she looked up there were tears in her eyes. "It's the first time since the crash."

I grabbed her hand and held it. She started to calm down. I kept my hand in hers as I started the car and drove away from the hospital.

After 15 minutes of driving she completely calmed down. I parked the car in front of the Fields' house and took the key out. While we were walking up to the porch she grabbed my hand. I looked at her.

"Thank you, Ali. For what you did back there."

I squeezed her hand and smiled. "I'm here for you, Em. Okay?"

She smiled and nodded her head. She opened her mouth to say something but the front door opened and there stood Mrs. Fields. Emily turned and faced her mom. She let go of my hand and hugged her. I smiled at them. When they pulled away from each other, Mrs Fields smiled at me "Hello Alison."

"Hello Mrs. Fields."

"I told you that you can call me, Pam."

"I know, I'm sorry. It's just a habit."

When we walked inside of the house, Mrs. Fields walked into the kitchen. I sat down on the couch.

"Mom, The purse that was in the car. Where is it?" Emily yelled while walking toward the kitchen.
