* Three weeks later *
Today is the Fourth of July. It's also the day that Elle comes to Texas. I was so excited to have her come and visit. I had missed her so much already in the short time that I was gone.
My mom, Connor, and I were sitting in the lobby of the airport, waiting for Elle to get off her plane. Once we saw people exiting the gate, I ran over to it and waited for my best friend to appear.
"Elle!" I yelled as I finally spotted her. I made my way over to her and threw my arms around her.
"Jessica!" She yelled back and returned the hug. "I missed you."
She pulled away and looked over to Connor. She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him."And, I missed you too." She smiled.
"I know you did." He smirked, causing her to roll her eyes.
"So what are the plans for today?" She asked, reminding me of a conversation I had earlier this morning.
Austin had told me that he was having friends over for Fourth of July. He invited me, Connor, and Elle to join.
Him and Connor had become friends, and he even introduced Connor to Alex, Robert, and Zach. I was very grateful that they all got along well. It made it easy for all of us to hang out.
"Well, Austin invited us three to go to his house around two. If you're up for it, I thought we could do that." I smiled, hoping she'd agree.
"Sure. That sounds like fun."
"It's noon now. We should probably head back home so you guys can visit with each other." My mom added.
"True. Let's go." I said.
We went to go help Elle get all her luggage and then the four of us walked out to my mom's car and helped her put it away. After we finished that, my mom drove us to my house, where we helped her unload her luggage and drag it to my room.
"Elle, why do you have so many bags?" Connor whined.
"I'll be here for two weeks; I need my stuff." She defended. She quickly changed the subject. "What time is it?" She asked.
I pulled my phone out from my pocket and checked the time.
"12:37." I replied. "Let's eat and then get ready?"
"Sounds like a plan." She said.
We made our way downstairs and to the kitchen. After minutes of looking through the pantry and cabinets, we agreed on macaroni and cheese since it was quick and easy to make.
We all helped in making the food. When it was done, we sat around the kitchen table and finished within twenty minutes. We all walked back up to my room to get ready.
"Do you mind if I take a shower?" Elle asked.
"Of course not. There's a clean towel already on the rack in the bathroom."
"Okay, thanks." She grabbed her clothes and disappeared into the hallway.
"I guess I should change too." Connor said, looking down at his outfit. He was wearing a grey t-shirt and black sweats with his all black Vans. He had told me this morning that he was too lazy to change, so he'd just do it at my house.
"The downstairs bathroom should be free." I smiled. He nodded and walked over to my bed, where he had laid his clothes down earlier that morning.
He left and I walked over to my closet so I myself could get ready. I searched through items in my closet and finally made up my mind. I pulled out a silky, flowy black tank top, turquoise shorts, and black sandals.
