The sun burned onto my skin. My heart pounded like a drum. I was on my first mission, and I was for sure not going to fail.
"Come on kid we gotta go to the Empire State Building." I looked a Percy confused.
"I thought we were going to Hephaestus' forge?"
"We are, we got to go to Olympus and that's on the 900th floor of the Empire State Building." He said.
"Okay but how are we going to get there. NYC is about 5 miles away?" Percy grinned.
"Well we better start walking then." I looked at him surprised.
"Wait, what!? That's going to take us hours to get there, can't we take a cabbie?"
"Do you wanna risk those drivers being monsters?" Jason asked. I shook my head and started walking. Percy and Jason were telling horrible jokes all the way, that I wish a monsters would kill me there and then. But the whole trip wasn't that bad, we got some donuts from a weird lady at a bus station. Now that I think about it she was probably a monster that was to scared to attack us or maybe Percy and Jason's reputation was true...nah they some dimwits.
"How much longer." I whined.
"I couple more miles." Jason told. I whined even more at that statement. My legs hurt, I've never walked this much not even in gym class. Okay to be fair I hid in the locker rooms so I didn't have to have human contact but still! It seemed like hours till we actually got into the city but we made it. I ran into the nearest store and sat down.
"Oh thank Gods!" Wait what did I say?! Jason and Percy laughed.
"You know that this is how the entire mission is going to be, right kid?" Percy sat right next to me.
"Let me sleep at least." I whined. Jesus I whine a lot don't I?
"Crys we have to finish the mission." I nodded and stood up. We left the store and continued walking to the Empire State Building. Once we were within eyesight of the building a homeless woman grabbed my arm.
"Please, do you have food child?" She begged. I shook my head and said sorry but she held onto my arm tightly.
"Please I know you have something." She asked again.
"No I'm sorry ma'am. Please let me go." Percy and Jason turned around noticing the woman and ran up to me.
"Let her go." They said. The woman growled gripping my arm tighter.
"You will never succeed in this mission, demigods. The original God's will rise again!" Her form morphed from an old dirty woman to a lady with snakes coming from her head. I shrieked in fear and fell to the ground with the monster still holding on to me.
"Crys!" Percy charged towards the thing without looking and nearly struck it in the chest but it dodge the sword.
"Foolish Percy Jackson, if you dare try to kill me again the girl will die." She threatened grabbing my hair. My face went pale and my legs shook. Percy lowered his sword and looked me in the eyes. The monsters chuckled, but the laugh stopped with a pained scream. She let go of my hair and I fell to the floor. Percy grabbed me and helped me up, I turned around to see Jason flying in the air.
"Let's go!" He yelled and we ran to the Empire State Building. I didn't feel safe till we entered the elevator.
"What was that!?" I panicked.
"A gorgon, those things are everywhere. Their sight can turn a person to stone." Percy answered. I gluped knowing that I almost died.
"Jason question, how in Hades can you fly?" I asked astonished. He chuckled.
"It's the perks of being a son of Jupiter." My mind stop. Nico put me in a group with other children of the big three....WHAT THE HELL NICO!
"Wait what!?"
"Oh I guess you didn't know, there are Roman and Greek demigods." He answered.
"No you're one of the kids of the big three!?" He looked at Percy and back at me.
"Yea all three of us are, Percy the son of Poseidon. Did Nico never tell you?"
"No! I swear when we get back-" Before I could finish my sentence the door opened to the roof. The guys led me to a door.
"This is Olympus?" I said skeptically.
"Through this door yes." Percy opened the door and a bright light shined in my eyes. I took a step into the light and I stood in shock. The room was huge, with white walls that looked never ending. Giant chairs sat around the room but no one sitting in them. I then realized the room was oddly quiet, even though the gods should be here.
"Uh Percy, I thought you said that this was Olympus? There aren't any Gods." I asked. He looked around frantically. The place was deathly still that I could hear my own heart beat.
"Where are they, the gods wouldn't just leave Olympus like this?" He questioned. Percy walked into the middle of the room and looked around. I walked to the side trying to find a door for us to go through.
"Guys I think we're stuck in here." Jason said. My heart started pounding. We need to finish this mission damnit!
"No were not. There must be a way that the gods get in here?" Percy climbed onto one of the giant chairs and scrunched up his face. He looked around the room once again and stopped.
"There!" He pointed to a huge door that none of us had noticed. Jason flew up and pressed on the door. Percy jumped off the chair and pushed the door on the floor. I ran next to him and slowly but surly the door cracked open. We ran in before it could close and fell down exhausted. I looked up and saw that we were in another white hall that stretched forever.
Chapter 5 to be honest I was so busy I almost forgot to finish it. SMILE.
