Meeting Twilight's Parents

This takes place a week after Twilight and Garrett started their relationship, but before their official first date.

"Hey Garrett, I was thinking... How would you like to meet my family?" Twilight asked Garrett, "They're interested in meeting you."

"Sure, I'd love to," said Garrett as he smiled at Twilight. "Perfect! We'll be having dinner at my parent's house." Twilight said jovially, "My mom and dad will be there, and so will my BBBFF!"

"BBBFF?" Garrett asked. "Oh, that's short for Big Brother Best Friend Forever," explained Twilight, "Shining Armor's his name."

"Oh I get it," said Garrett, "I guess Sunny's like that! Only she's my BSBFF... Wait, that came out wrong, didn't it?" Twilight giggled, thinking Garrett was so funny and adorable. The next night, Twilight and Garrett went to her parent's house. Inside the house were her parents Night Light and Twilight Velvet, and her older brother, Shining Armor. Twilight hugged her parents as she said, "Hey Mom, hey dad."

"It's so good to see you dear," said Twilight Velvet. Shining Armor then hugged her and asked, "How have you been Twily?" She giggled and said, "I've been good Shining Armor. Mom, Dad, I'd like you to meet my Special Somepony, Garrett Shimmer. Garrett, these are my parents, Night Light and Twilight Velvet. And this is my older brother, Shining Armor."

Garrett shook each of their hooves as he said, "It's nice to meet all of you. Twilight's told me so much about you all." They all sat at a dinner table, and ate. "So Garrett," said Night Light, "tell us about yourself."

"Well, Sunset Shimmer is my older sister," said Garrett, "one of the reasons I came to Ponyville was because I was looking for her."

"Do you have any parents?" Twilight Velvet asked. "Unfortunately, not anymore," said Garrett, who looked down a little. "I'm sorry Garrett," said Velvet, who felt bad for making her daughter's boyfriend feel sad. "No, it's okay Mrs. Sparkle," said Garrett. "Please call me Velvet," she insisted. "And you can call me Night," said Night Light. "Well thank you," said Garrett. "So what do you do?" Night Light asked. "Well, I'm a bass for the Ponyville Choir." Garrett said proudly. "That's wonderful," said Velvet, "do you have any friends?"

"Actually yeah," said Garrett, "I got one, his name's Mr. Potato Head. He's a literal walking and talking potato. Real funny guy. He can rearrange his body parts for abstract amusements."

"Sounds interesting," said Shining Armor, "is he a comedian?" Twilight chuckled and said, "Yep. He's an observant comedian AND an impersonator. He saved our tails, that's for sure. He says Rarity sounds like his wife."

"He's right," said Garrett, "I remember one time, we went bowling. When it was Mr. Potato Head's turn, his fingers stuck to the bowling ball, and when he rolled, his arm flew out, carrying the ball! He's been afraid of bowling since." This caused everypony to laugh.

Much later, after getting to know Garrett a bit better, it was dessert time. "I think my parents officially like you Garrett." Twilight said proudly. "That's good to know," said Garrett, "it feels good to be a part of a family." Shining Armor walked in and said, "believe me, my wife feels the same way. And she's the Princess of Family."

"How is Cadence by the way?" Twilight asked. "Spending some mommy daughter bonding time with Flurry Heart," said Shining Armor. Twilight smiled. "Hey, umm, Shining Armor..." Garrett hesitantly said, "do you, uh, have any dating advice?" He blushed. "Yeah, I can give ya some good advice Garrett," said Shining Armor. "Teach me, oh wise one!" Garrett said. He thought Shining Armor was a cool stallion, and one he could look up to as a big brother figure.
