The Mutant in the Alley

The next morning, Garrett noticed his journal was vibrating. He knew it was from Twilight, so he opened what his wife had written.

Dear Garrett,

I'm sorry to hear things went south yesterday. I think I've put two and two together, and I think I know who punched you. And I'm sure it wasn't Rarity. But you'll be relieved to know that I won't tell your sister about this, your secret is safe with me. And I must say, I'm really sorry about what Donnie is going through. It must be really hard to be torn between someone you once loved, and someone you are in love with. I wish you nothing but the best of luck, my beloved.

Garrett smiled, and wrote back,

Dear Princess Twilight,

Thanks for your understanding. I'm glad to know this secret is safe between us. After the incident, Mikey said he looked into April's eyes for a moment, and he saw remorse in her eyes. Could it be that April is realizing what she's doing is wrong? I hope my predictions are right.

He put his journal away to eat some breakfast. Once he was finished eating, Garrett was about to get dressed, when he saw his journal vibrating, he opened the journal, and from Twilight, she wrote, "There's a possibility."  This gave Garrett some hope. He decided to pay April a visit. She worked at Channel 6 News, and it took a while for Garrett to find the news station, but he did. He was able to find the office where April worked at. He saw her, and her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked stressed. Garrett cleared his throat and asked, "April?" She gasped, almost scared. She got up, and saw it was the guy whom she accidentally punched. "Oh my gosh, Garrett!" she said, feeling remorse. "Hi," he sheepishly said, and out of concern, "April, are you okay? You look like you haven't slept all night!"

"I- I haven't," she sadly said, "I just felt so horrible for what I did yesterday! I was acting like such a brat, and you had to suffer for it, Garrett. I am so sorry for accidentally punching you." Tears were coming down her eyes. "Don't worry, I'm not taking it personally," Garrett said calmly, "Let's take a walk, you and I." The two left the News Station, and walked together. "I came to this world on my wife's behalf. She's the Princess of Friendship, and she and her five friends usually work together to solve a friendship problem," explained Garrett, "I'm here to solve a friendship problem. It's quite apparent this friendship problem concerns you and Rarity. And it needs to be solved." April sighed and said, "Much as I hate to admit it, you're right." Garrett nodded. By then, they were outside Rarity's fashionista store. "Here's my plan," he said, "perhaps we could talk it out? You, me, and Rarity, and we could see what the root of the problem is. Maybe resolve the problem itself."

"That actually sounds like a good plan," said April. "Let me see if Rarity is there," said Garrett, and he was about to open the door. But right when he did, as if on cue, someone screamed for help. It was north of the alley next to Rarity's fashion store. Rarity came out and asked, "What's all the hullabaloo?" April gave a look of concern and said, "Guys, there's a mob, I think they're lynching someone!" Garrett, Rarity, and April ran up to the lynch mob, who was beating on someone. He kept begging them to stop hurting him. This lynch mob seemed to be an anti-mutant lynch mob. "We should probably stop that mob," stated Garrett. "That, we can all agree on," said April. They then charged at the mob, stopping them from beating up and lynching their innocent victim. By then, they finished putting them in their place, the lynch mob running. "Yeah, why don't you pick on someone your own size!" scolded Garrett. "That felt good," panted Rarity. "Are you okay sir?" April asked. Garrett and Rarity looked at the person they saved, and found he wasn't a human. In fact, he was a mutant humanoid turtle. His skin was more of a Shrek green, and his eyes were a jade green. The nameless turtle looked at his three saviors and said, "Y-yes, I'm okay now. Thank you for saving me. They kept on hurtin' me, and I thought they'd never stop." Garrett looked at the mutant turtle, and he reminded him of Fluttershy.

"You've been hurt pretty badly," stated Garrett. "We should probably get him medical attention," Rarity said, concerned for his wellbeing. "Donnie can probably patch him up," said April. "Sounds like a good idea," said Garrett, "Come on April, let's help this guy up. We got this Rarity."

"Alright, if you say so," said Rarity, "I'll go back into my store. I'll see all of you after work." April looked at the young turtle and offered her hand, saying, "Hi, my name's April O'Neil, this is Garrett Shimmer. We're going to help you." The turtle took her hand and said, "Okay, I trust you both..." Garrett and April then took this nameless turtle to the sewers so that Donnie could fix this stranger up, and maybe find out more about him. As they walked, Garrett noticed April's behavior was changing, probably for the better.
