Mason POV

couple weeks later

I was sitting down stairs in the man cave with Dison and we were playing 2k .

this dude is 7 and kicking ass.

"who taught you how to play lil man?"

"Chris showed me some cheats" he replied while concentrating . "is he still at practice?"

"yeah and so you ain't gone tell me ?" I said in Disbelief

"Naw pops, you ain't cool like us."

"holup " I paused . " what you mean I'm not cool enough Bruh I made y'all cool. "

he laughed at me.

I got up and hit him with a pillow cause he was laughing. I heard the door bell ring .

"come on D, we'll go get your mama some ice cream after I see who this is ." I said walking up stairs.

we met Kelci who was coming down the other stairs.

I went to the door and opened it. there was this women standing there, with ragdey clothes on , hair a mess. she looked familiar but I couldn't make out who she was.

"yes can I help you?"

"yes I'm here to see my son."

"your son?" I looked at her like she was crazy then looked back at Kelci who looked like she seen a ghost .

the lady nodded, and continued. "Christopher. he lives here."

I starred at her for a minute.

oh shit.

"aunt Peggy !???"

"who you? how do you know me?"

"I'm Mason. Karter's nephew ...Tracy and Malcolm's son."

she still looked confused .

"umm come in I guess" I gestured .

she walked in and looked around like she was nervous. she looked at Kelci and Dison who were standing there looking back.

"umm so how did you get here?" I asked

"uhhhh that's not important. I need to talk to Chris , that's what's important.

"well he's not here at the moment"  Kelci said with a little attitude.

"well where is he? is he ever here !? y'all raising the boy but don't where he is. prolly out there fucking or selling dope!! I need to talk to my boy!!!" she yelled. she was getting aggressive

"Dison go up to your room." I said. and he did with nolip.

after he left we all stood there awkwardly then we heard Chris pull up , car door slam and laughter. he walked in from the garage into the kitchen and into the living room with Alicia. and his gym bag hit the floor.

his attention went straight to aunt Peggy.

"what the hell are you doing here!?" he spat. his face turned red as hell.

"hey son. "

"I'm not your son. why are you here!?" he repeated

"Chris calm down. " Kelci walked over to him and placed her hand on his back.

"Naw why is she here?" he said

"we don't know. " I answered. "why are you here aunt Peggy?"

"okay well I was told that your uncle Charles left you and me some money and see - uh Chris , you're not tittled to it until you're 18 so if yoiu have it you need to be handing it over " she replied and looked dead ass serious.

"bitch are you serious !?" he yelled.

"whoa Chris calm down that's still yo mama."

"no the hell she's not! she'll travel 18hours to ask about some fucking money and her ass ain't seen me in 3fucking years. she ain't did shit for me since I was 6. I been doing shit on my own. she ain't nobody damn mama. Kelci been more of a damn mother to me in 4months than she has in 11years. fuck her"

and he stormed off. Kelci and Alicia followed him.

"aunt Peggy I think its best you leave."

"I'm not going anywhere til I get my damn money boy. "

"okay you're my uncles baby mama so I'm not gonna disrespect you but you damn sure ain't about to be calling me a damn boy in my own house!"

"yo uncles baby mama? Karter ain't his daddy ! he just been a good dude. Charles was his daddy . karter just signed the birth certificate. whatever. none of y'all plan on giving me my money so fuck it" and she walked out.

what the hell ???

this shit is crazy and its only damn near 11am.

Chris POV

I can't believe this shit. How the hell did she even find out where I was !?

"Chris , sweety calm down okay , look at me " Kelci said lifting my face.

"you gotta calm down."

we heard shouting from down stairs. it sounded like Mason. I walked out my room to the bottom of the stairs.

"...Karter ain't his daddy. he's just been a good dude. Charles is, Karter just signed the birth certificate.."

I didn't hear shit after that but a door slam .

I walked out grabbed my keys and left. not saying shit to anyone. I know I was probably wrong for leaving Alicia but she wouldn't understand I need to be alone right now. I drove down to this trail that leads up to this huge hill parked and sat there with my music playing. since it was a Sunday their wasn't really anyone here.

I sat there for hours. thinking. shit been so messed up for so long. I don't even think I've ever been this happy. but seeing her standing there asking about money set me over. She didn't even mention a happy birthday, or a hello . just a straight forward 'I want my money' . fuck her. fuck her straight up.

I heard a knock at my window and looked up and saw Alicia at my passenger door. I unlocked it and she got in.

it was silence.

"I'm sorry....for leaving like that. I'm sorry you had to see me that way. I just have so much shit going on I-"

"Chris you don't have to apologize, you acted off of emotions. that's how you really felt and you got it off your chest."

man I felt like a punk. cause I felt tears slipping down.

she tried to hung me but I didn't want it. but they kept coming.

"man my own mama don't love me ." I said.

"why don't she love me ?"

"babe." she wrapped her arms around me.

"Kelci loves you. Mason loves you. Dison's loves you....I love you."

I looked at her. she just said she loves me . or did I hear that wrong....

"you just said you love me.."

"yeah I did."

"I love you too."
