MCSM: The Forest Temple

Part 6 (Jess and Petra)

"Petra!" Jess screamed and reached out to her. The wall was inches from her head. He grabbed onto her arm and quickly yanked her out of the way. She yelped and lost her balance. Jess caught her and hugged her tightly, "Oh my gosh, that was so scary." 

Petra sighed, "Whoa, that was close. Thanks Jess." She returned the hug as they both tried to register what had just happened, "My life just flashed before my eyes! Literally!"

Jess stroked her red hair, "It's okay, you're okay." Petra leaned back a little bit, still in each other's arms so that she could look him in the eye. She a grin on her face, "Why do I feel like you're just reassuring yourself that I'm not dead? You'd miss the that much?" 

He shut his eyes, "No-well maybe. I just saved your life! Why are you teasing me for that? Would you rather be a human pancake?"

Petra punched his arm, "Aww. My knight in shining armor just rescued me." she bit her lip to contain her laughter, "Was that better?" Jess rolled his eyes and opened his mouth to speak, but he was interrupted by Axel's voice, "Umm, guys.. Just because there's a wall between us doesn't mean we can't hear you two flir- ouch! Olivia, why did you punch me?"

"Sorry about Axel," Olivia said, "How are you both? Is there a path you can follow over there?" Jess and Petra separated and Jess held a torch out to look around, "Yeah, I guess we'll part and meet each other at the end just like Jesse and Lukas. Good luck!"

"Same to you!" Olivia called back. Axel laughed, "Try not to take advantage of being alone you two!" Axel grunted as Jess and Petra heard another pop on the other side, "Er, I meant have fun!" They heard Axel and Olivia's voices fade down the path. Petra began to walk as well and Jess sped up to walk beside her. She grinned, "No more of Olivia telling me not to fight whatever the heck I want now." She turned to Jess, "I will fight what I want."

"I agree." Jess said, "Except creepers, right Petra?" Petra rolled her eyes and nodded, so he continued, "I'll be your partner in crime."

Petra grinned, "There's the Jess I've missed." Her dark eyes suddenly widened as she stared past him, "Watch out!" She grabbed his hand and sprinted forwards. She and Jess turned to see a creeper blow right behind them. "Wow," Jess sighed, "That was close!" Petra suddenly stopped and he tripped over his foot trying to halt. He regained his balance and looked up to see a creeper directly in front of them. It blew before they could get away and the stone flooring beneath them gave in and the two of them fell deeper into the cave.
