MCSM: The Forest Temple

Part 18 (Jess)

"Lukas!" Everyone in the Order screeched. Jess watched Lukas drop to the ground. Jesse ran to Lukas and knelt beside him. She placed two fingers on the side of his neck, and her body relaxed. She felt a pulse. 

Jess couldn't do anything but watch as all of this took place. Carson betrayed us! Well, I never really liked him, but Olivia and Petra were mostly nice to him. Jesse may have been a little too nice. If I move, this whole place will blow. All of the pressure to save all of us is on Jesse's shoulders. I don't like it. 

Jesse ran a hand through Lukas' blonde hair and whispered, "I will get us out of this. I will do everything in my power to make sure your nightmare doesn't come true." Jesse slowly stood up and approached Carson, "Can you explain what's going on here?" She asked cautiously. Carson held his arms in the air, "You are the one for me, I know it!" He exclaimed, "These people you call your friends are trying to stop us from being together!" He pointed at Lukas, Jess, and Petra one by one with disgust, "Especially those three."

Jesse turned to her friends, they all thought the same thing, What on earth is going on? There is nothing going on between Carson and Jesse! He must have lost his mind! Carson continued, "Back at the cave, when I told you about my past, you accepted it and let me live in your beautiful town. The date last night confirmed my theory. We are meant to be together Princess!" A tear escaped his eye, "Ever since my fiance died, I thought that I'd be alone the rest of my life. That was until I met you. We love each other! We were meant to be with each other!"

Jesse glanced back at her friends again, they all shared the same nervous and confused expressions. Jesse knew she couldn't let her friends get hurt. She thought back once again to Lukas' nightmare, I should have been more careful with Carson! I should have seen what was right in front of my face this entire time. It's my fault that my friends and city are stuck in this situation, and now I'm going to get them out of it. They can't pay the price for my mistakes. She sighed, and prepared herself for her unknown future, "I'll do whatever you want. Just let them go, please." Carson smiled. 

"No, sis!" Jess screamed. Her other friends protested along with him. Carson approached Jesse, "I'm glad to hear that." He grabbed Jesse's face between his hands and pulled her into a kiss. Tears began to fall down Jesse's cheeks. Petra was blowing steam out of her ears at this point. She snuck up behind Carson and yanked him away from Jesse. She held Miss Butters under his chin, "Drop. The. Button." Jesse sighed.

Carson laughed, everyone glanced at each other nervously, Petra had him in a position that she could kill him at any second. Why was he laughing? Carson shifted his gaze to Jesse, "Your call. Them or me?" The answer she wanted to say was obvious, but she could tell that there was something he was hiding about this choice.

"Shut it and drop it." Petra ordered, tightening her grip on her sword. Jesse couldn't find the words to speak. Carson squinted at her, and dropped the button. Jess swooped down and grabbed the button off of the floor before Carson could change plans. A poof of smoke appeared where Carson was standing. When the mist cleared, he was gone. Instead, he was standing behind Jesse. He whispered into her ear, "Them. Or. Me?" Jesse decided to rebel against him now that he didn't have the button as a bomb threat, "I've known them for longer, and I can't lose them"

Carson scowled, "Fine, then there's no reason for me to be here. I won't believe that you favor them over me until you kill me yourself." Jesse gasped, I've never killed anyone in my life! I never can! I can't kill Carson, but I have to, don't I?  

Is Carson just full blown insane? Or perhaps desperate? Jesse glanced at Petra, "I'll take care of this," She sighed. She turned to Carson.

Is Jesse going to kill Carson to save her friends and town? To be continued...
