Hey! I just wanted to tell you some stuff before I continue with the story. I'm having a great time writing this story and I just love that you guys are reading it! I wanted to check if you had any questions or suggestions about my story. Ask or tell me anytime and I will answer for you. Also, a few of my chapters will have some of my personal drawings starting with this chapter. I will end up having one OC in this story (that was listed in the summary) and surprise, here's his first chapter! Love ya!
(Jesse and Lukas had been walking for a long while and now they are taking a break.)
Lukas took a bite of his chicken, "Thanks for the blanket last night by the way." Jesse grinned in return, "It was nothing, you did the same thing for me. Plus, it was nice to see you cuddled up in it. You looked like a puppy!"They laughed.
They heard a small rock skip across the floor. They gave each other a confused glance, and Lukas held his hand out to say, stay here, and the other with his pointer over his lips. Jesse nodded and he stood up and drew his enchanted iron sword. He crept down the cave to a left turn. A hooded man came around the corner, a knife in his hand. He was wearing a black hoodie with blue pants and a strap around his thigh that held his knife. The man sighed and put his knife back in it's place. "Thank goodness!" He exclaimed. He had an Austrailian accent. He took his hoodie off of his head to reveal deep brown eyes, messy dirty blonde hair, and a wide smile. He had some dirt splotches on his outfit. He looked about a year or two older than Lukas, "I haven't seen anybody in weeks!" He extended his hand out to Lukas.
Lukas put the sword in his left hand and slowly shook the man's hand, "Who are you?"
The man smiled, "Oh sorry, where are my manners? I'm Carson. And you are?"
"Lukas." Lukas said slowly. The man-Carson-asked, "Did you make the dumb decision of coming alone too?" Lukas shook his head and Jesse stood up and headed in their direction, "I'm with Lukas." She said, "We got separated from four of our friends." Carson's eyebrows raised when he saw her and he approached her, extending his hand, "What is your name?"
"Jesse." He took her hand and kissed it, "Name fit for the angel you are. Pleasure to meet you." Lukas squinted at him and clenched his fists. Jesse awkwardly said, "Thanks.." She and Lukas exchanged confused looks. "Oh no!" Carson gaped, "What happened?"
Jesse glanced down at her ankle, "I broke my ankle when we fell into this cave." Carson gave her a sympathetic look and then he raised an eyebrow, "What is that supposed to be?" He asked, motioning to the wooden crutch that Lukas carved. That made Lukas even angrier, Like he could carve one better just using wood, a knife, and imagination. Who does this guy think he is?
Jesse didn't seem very happy about the comment either, "Lukas spent all night making it for me. I like it." Carson nodded, "Right, I'm sorry." He pulled a liquid in a bottle out of his inventory and handed it to Jesse, "This is a healing potion. It will restore your health and heal your ankle."
"How do we know we can trust you?" Lukas asked, eyes narrowed. Carson laughed, "You really can! I can understand why you don't trust me yet, but I promise that I'm not lying. I could never harm a woman as beautiful as Jesse!"
Jesse still looked confused, yet she slightly blushed. Lukas whispered to her, "Can I talk to you for a bit?" Jesse glanced at Carson, "Of course. We'll be back." She and Lukas walked a few steps away. "I don't know about this guy." Lukas said, glancing at Carson, who was awkwardly kicking pebbles across the cave floor. "He trusted us so quickly and .."
"And..?" Jesse pressed. Lukas looked at her, "He's flirting with you." He slightly blushed. Jesse's gaze softened and she laughed, "Don't worry. Just because I'm cripple doesn't mean that I can't beat up a stranger." She lifted her crutch off of the floor and playfully jabbed Lukas' ticklish (and stiff :P) stomach.
He laughed and pushed the crutch away, "Okay, okay!" She set the crutch back down, "See? Point proven." She lifted up her chin. Lukas looked into her emerald eyes, "How do you feel about the potion?"
She thought for a moment, "Well, he doesn't seem like he wants to harm me, and we are going to be walking a lot. If I do take it, and it works, I will feel bad though." Lukas tilted his head at her, "Why? You'd be healed."
She held up the crutch, "You put so much time into this, and I'll feel bad if you made it all for no reason." Lukas shrugged, "Don't worry about that. Besides, if you want to make me feel better, you can put it on display in the Order Hall we built." He tried to read her gaze, "I say you do what you feel is best."
She sighed, "Thanks Lukas. I think I'll just go for it because you need someone strong to protect you." She joked. He laughed, "Isn't that what I've been doing the past few days?" She shrugged, "I guess so. Two makes better than one after all." They exchanged smiles and approached Carson, who glanced up at them as they approached, "So... What's it going to be? Can I crash with you two?"
"Sure." Lukas then added, "But that doesn't mean we aren't going to be careful about you." Carson didn't seem offended, "I'd feel the same way, but I hope I can prove myself loyal." Jesse took the potion as he extended it, "We can start the trust building now. I'll take the potion." Carson nodded and she opened the lid and stared down at the blue liquid. She glanced at Lukas, who nodded to her, and she drank it. She could feel the liquid flow throughout her body and the pain in her ankle slowly eased away. She took a step forwards, putting pressure on her right foot, and felt no pain. She sighed.
"It worked!" Lukas exclaimed. They embraced each other in a hug, "I'm not dead!' Jesse whispered in relief. Lukas laughed. They separated and Jesse placed a hand on Carson's shoulder, "Thank you, really."
He smiled, "Anything for you princess." Lukas felt uneasy, Why is he acting like they are so close? Sure, he healed Jesse, but that doesn't mean they're dating or anything! He shook his head, "We'd better get going."
"Good idea," Jesse agreed and put her crutch away. The three of them walked in silence until Jesse spoke, "I wonder why we haven't run into any monsters yet." Carson responded, "If this temple follows its own rules, then we shouldn't crash into any monsters until we are close to the treasure room. It's only that way for the people who fall down here though. Up above it's crawling with mobs." Jesse looked down at the ground, That makes me a lot more nervous about how the others are doing. She pushed the thought away, They are strong enough to take care of themselves.
A familiar shriek filled the air. Petra? Sure enough, when they looked up they saw their red head friend holding Miss Butter under Carson's throat.
