The ocelot jumped off of her stomach and Jesse sprung strait up at what she saw. A familiar blonde haired, blue eyed, dimple smiled, long-lost friend stood there, "Lukas!" She leapt off the bed into his arms as tears rushed out of her eyes. She cupped his face between her hands and kissed him. His eyes widened, eyebrows raised, and heart skipped a beat, shocked at her response. He went with the long awaited moment (for both of them) anyways. Then, she hugged him tightly and cried into his leather jacket, "I can't believe you're alive!" He laughed, "Me neither!" They continued to hug for a bit, until Jesse suddenly dropped herself to the floor and pushed him, "How are you alive? You scared me! You scared all of us!"
He pulled ender pearls out of his pocket, "Luckily, I had these. I remembered about them while my life flashed before my eyes as I fell into what I thought was certain death. I threw one at a cave opening that I saw and teleported there." Jesse wiped a tear with her arm, "And you didn't decide to give us a shout out that you were okay?"
He itched his neck, "I would have, but I got knocked out by a rock when I teleported to the cave. I just had to land at that perfect spot. At least it was better than burning to death in a pool of lava. I woke up and you guys were already gone, so I finished on my own."
Jesse's gaze softened and she hugged him again, her forehead against his chest, staring at the floor, "I'm sorry you had to do that on your own like that." He smiled and stroked her midnight hair, "I had to fulfill my part of the promise." She laughed. Jesse lifted her head to look into his eyes, "Have you seen the others yet?" He nodded, "I wish you could have seen their reactions. It's amazing to see how much people miss you when they think you're dead." He thought of Jesse's reaction and slightly blushed. He continued, "Axel thought that I was a ghost ready to get revenge on him, and Petra started bawling. The others didn't have as good of reactions as them though."
Jesse laughed, "Yeah, Axel told me that-" She cut herself off and grabbed Lukas' hand, pulling him to the door, "Where are we going?" Lukas gave her a bewildered look. She smiled, "I can't ruin the surprise, just come on!"
They saddled Lukas' horse and rode it to the Order Hall. His expression remained the same as when they had left, "Why are we here?" Seeming as if she hadn't heard him, she got off the horse and motioned for him to follow her. He attached the reigns to a tree branch and followed her inside. When Lukas walked in, he saw Jesse holding something behind her back. She bit her lip to contain her excitement.
"What do you want to show me?" He asked, approaching her. She held out her hand to reveal a gold and silver journal that he recognized immediately. The same wide, childish grin covered his face as it did when he first told her about this book, this time wider, "Thank you so much, Jesse! Where did you find this?" He took it, examining it. It said "Lukas" in big, bold letters on the top, and "-The Order" in smaller letters at the bottom.
"In the reward room." She was pleased with his reaction, "I found it and thought of you. We all wrote things that we wished we would have told you before you died- well, thought you died." He nodded, intrigued and opened it to the first page to see it signed by Jesse.
Oh no! I was so excited to show him the book that I forgot about all that cheesy, embarrassing stuff I wrote! Jesse thought mortified, He can't read that! She grabbed the book from him and attempted to tear the page out. Lukas folded his arms, for he knew that no harm could come to his book, "What exactly are you doing?" She blushed, and continued to try with no success, "I umm... want to double check that it umm flows, you know? It would be bad if you read a letter with bad grammar."
"Uh huh." Lukas looked amused, "And why does that require the page to be torn out exactly?"
"It just does, okay?" She stated. Lukas decided to use her ticklish spot to get his gift back to see what she was hiding from him. He reached out and tickled her neck. She laughed hysterically, and tried to swat his hands away dropping the book in the process. She gasped as he dove down and picked it up, lifting it up in the air out of her reach, "You gave this to me." Lukas grinned, "Do you not want me to read it now?"
"Not really," Jesse grunted as she leapt into the air, trying to get the book back.
"How come?" He asked. She huffed, "Just because," When Jesse finally faced the fact that Lukas wasn't going to return the book, she crossed her arms, defeated, "No fair, your'e tall." He laughed at how embarrassed she looked, "What? You said that the things written in here were things you wanted me to know." She rolled her eyes at him, "Whatever, just don't judge me, okay?" He nodded, "I won't judge your 'bad grammar'." He made air quotations with his right hand.
She decided it would be best to change the subject before he could open the book and read her letter right on the spot. She could tell he wanted to know what was contained in the pages, "Want to train downstairs with me?" She grinned at him. He looked up from the book's cover. "Right now?" He asked. She nodded, "Of course! I haven't gone through that obstacle course with my best friend in nearly a week! Are you scared I'll beat you?"
He put the book away and squinted playfully at her, "Your'e on."
