The next day came around and we were preparing for the masquerade ball. There were so many dances and gatherings in this town that it made me want to vomit. The only reason I came was because Jenna asked dad and he couldn't refuse. Along with his help he handed over my will to choose and forced me to come.
So here I was placing flowers on tables and making sure they were perfectly aligned to the center. Ms. Lockwood's words, not mine.
I walked over to grab more flowers when I saw Damon, Stefan, and Bonnie all standing together. It was a weird combination which meant something was up. "Hey." I said walking over.
"Emma." Stefan smiled lightly. "What are you doing over here?"
"Flower committee." I nodded lightly. "What are you all up to?" I asked as I grabbed to flower pots.
"Nothing just trying to help out." Damon answered looking to me, adding a small smile.
"Really?" I asked furrowing my brows confused.
"We are trying to figure out what's going on with Mason Lockwood." Stefan replied to me obviously seeing that I wasn't taking Damons bullshit.
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"We think he's working with Katherine. We want to be one step ahead. Now I'd love to stay and chitchat but we should get going." Damon raised his eyebrows to me.
"Okay..." I looked to him confused. They all walked away and I couldn't help but think there was something else. I kept setting up for the ball and hung out with Matt and Tyler.
"I'm just saying it's dumb to have so many balls and dances." I laughed lightly looking to Tyler.
"If you hate it so much then don't come." Tyler shrugged.
"First of all I already found a cute dress and second I want everyone to stare at me all night as I sexily walk around." I smiled as I posed lightly. They both looked at me unsure. "I'm kidding."
"I'm honestly not sure that you are." Matt smiled at me. He was right. I pushed his arm lightly with an offended face. My phone buzzed and I looked at it.
"Time for family dinner at my new family's house." I sighed lightly as I smiled up to them. "I'll see you guys tomorrow." I explained as I stood up. "Save me a dance?" I asked with a smile.
They both nodded. "Bye Emma." Tyler added. I smiled and walked out. With them I could pretend everything was okay and I loved it. I could pretend that I had no worries in the world. It was bliss. I could live a normal life.
I got inside and dad was in the kitchen. "Hey." He smiled lightly.
I walked over with a smile and looked to him. "Do you have any idea what's going on with Damon, Stefan, and Bonnie?"
"What do you mean?" He asked confused. "You mean about Mason?"
"What about Mason?" I asked wondering if he'd say the same thing.
"They were trying to break a curse. Supposedly he had this moonstone that could break said curse." He nodded lightly cutting the vegetables.
"Tyler mentioned something about it. I thought it was some family relic." I pieced it together surprised. It would make sense that it had importance. I nodded and Jenna walked over with a glass of wine.
