Song I associate with this chapter:
Muted Beatings by Albert Hammond Jr.The father that mentally and physically hurt the blonde over the course of weeks and months. The father that wasn't even invited, or notified, of the wedding Tyler and Jenna were preparing and having. The father that sent Tyler in a fit of incandescent anger. The father that Jenna still feared every day knowing she hasn't seen him in five years.
"Jenna?!"
Tyler was immediately alerted when he heard a scream come out of Jenna back downstairs. He was already in their room, turning off their light and beginning to set up for bed, but his ears perked up and his mind let him know that something wrong must have happened.
He dashed out the bedroom door and ran downstairs. Tyler turned on the kitchen light and saw Jenna standing in front of the front door, holding her arms tightly and trembling a little.
"Jenna?" He softly asked, rushing to her and giving her a tight hug. She buried her head deep in his chest and sniffled, still shaking from fear.
"He's.. he's outside. He's going to kill me. He's going to hurt.."
"Hey," Tyler stopped her rambling. His eyebrows knitted together softly. The hug was lightened and he pulled her away, holding her by her arms.
"Who's going to kill you? Who's outside?" He spoke to her in a gentle manner.
Jenna stared at him with glossy eyes, her lip quivering. She gulped harshly and breathed in deeply.
"My father."
Tyler's breathing lightened and he felt his entire body grow light. His eyes slightly became dizzy and faint and he began dissociating from reality; how it felt to hear the words Jenna's father and him being outside too much for his head to process. Why was he outside? How did he even find their house? What did he want? Those were some of the various questions that were speeding through Tyler, and Jenna's, mind. Like said, he wasn't even invited to the wedding, so how did he know where they lived?
"Your father?" Tyler repeated.
Jenna nodded. Tyler gulped angrily.
"What do you think he wants?"
Jenna huffed, removing her embrace from Tyler. She threw her hands up exasperatedly and began to pace. "I don't know, Tyler! I haven't seen, or talked, to my dad in five years. I don't know what the hell he wants or even, know why the absolute hell he's outside right now!"
Tyler stood in silence, looking blankly and defeated at Jenna. She sighed and quickly apologized. "I'm sorry. I'm just.. I'm scared. What does he want? Is he going to hurt me?"
The blonde's eyes immediately welled up with water until a few droplets ran down her cheeks. Tyler was instantly alerted and wrapped his arms around her shoulders and wiped off the tears off her face.
"Don't apologize, J, I get it. Don't cry. I don't know why he's here but he's not here to hurt you. Look, don't be scared.. or anything."
"Don't be scared?" Jenna laughed, cutting him off before he was about to say anything. "My abusive dad is behind that door right now and you expect me not to be scared?"
"That's not what I meant, J. As in go upstairs. Please take deep breaths for me and don't constantly check the window or else that will make you more anxious. Just stay in bed and wait for me. I'll call the police and everything will be okay. And I want you to be okay."
Jenna sighed, chewed on her lip, and looked back at the door behind her. She wasn't doubtful or anything, because she trusted Tyler, and her mind was just telling her to calm down and allow full faith into Tyler's hands.
