"I'm sorry. I know I've hurt you."

"It doesn't matter, you can change."

"I'm sorry I couldn't be the best for you. Let's just be good friends...."

🎼She lives in a fairy tale, somewhere too far for us to fi... 🎼

I opened my eyes and wiped away the tears. The sun is already shining through my bedroom window threatening to blind me. How long has it been since I started having dreams and waking with tears? Will I ever be fine? Somebody answer them for me. Right now, I'm getting pretty late. Thank you Paramore for waking me up.

Winter mornings in this town are never welcoming. If I had the time, I would laze around in bed for a few more minutes but today is not that day so I get up and sit on my bed.

"Lord I thank you for this brand new day that you've added in my life. Thank You for Your grace, mercy and forgiveness. Please take care of all my loved ones. I commit this day to you. Amen."
That prayer did not make me feel any better. Something is missing but I don't have time to figure it out.

"How long are you planning to sit there?  Come help in the kitchen" mom peeks in through the door with three carrots in hand.
I quietly get out of bed and like all other mornings, I go straight to the kitchen.

Every morning swiftly goes by with the same routine. Cook, eat, disperse to your own business. Dad leaves for work, mom gets busy getting my sister ready for school and my brother leaves for class so do I. Nothing changes except in winter. It's just me who leaves for classes now. Why do we even have classes in December?

On reaching the college campus, I take out my phone and turn off the flight mode.

You have four new messages.

I open my inbox.

Rachel- Hey, I'm sorry
Vito - Good night :)
*okay*- Hey...
Khumtsa- Yo

Wait, what? Khumtsa? I double check again. It's really him. After more than two months! Before I could type a reply, my phone rings and I tell myself to smile. I'm fine.

"Yo!" I try to sound as enthusiastic as possible.

"Grace! Where are you?"

"What, not even a hello?"

"Okay, hello. Now where are you?"

"I'm in the campus."

"Oh. Okay. Come to the class soon. Rachel's looking for you."

Rachel... Rachel! She's looking for me? Why? What more does she have to do with me? I can't face her now. Not just yet.

"heellooooo...... "

"Yeah, um...something came up. I'll see you later."

"But..."

"Okay? Sorry. Bye. Later."

I feel sorry. Vito did nothing to deserve that rude reply. I'm sure she's worried sick by now. Does she know? Has Rachel told her anything yet? Thoughts keep coming and going. This means no class for me today. I look around. I'm already inside the campus and students have started filling in. I can't go back home now. Thinking of every possible way to kill time for the next nine to ten hours, I check my phone again. I felt the pain and hurt that I've been trying to run away from.

I must change my wallpaper.

So that's the first chapter.
The names of the characters may seem a little unusual. That's because I'm trying to write in a way that feels closest to home i.e., a small town in the state of Nagaland. For those who are foreign to this state, it's in India.

I really hope you guys enjoy the story. Please do vote if you think it's worth reading. It would really encourage me to keep writing and please do feel free to correct any mistake or offer any suggestions on how to improve my writing. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for reading!
Lots of love
