"Where's Tiren and Rachel?" I ask, eyeing Khumtsa suspiciously.
Walking towards the lake, I sit beside Vito who is untying her shoe laces to go into the lake.
"Don't worry moonlight, I'm sure they are fine. Maybe a little out of fuel." Khumtsa replied nonchalantly .
"Just fine?" I ask because he can do crazy at a whole new level when he wants to.
"Yep" he says popping the 'p'
Just as I was about to interrogate him more, a splash of water hits both of us. We look towards the direction from where it came and see Vito standing knee deep in the lake with a grin.
"Did we come here to just sit and stare?" she asks throwing another splash our way.
"Who's staring?" I asked back.
That is the girl who was first to oppose the idea of skipping classes.
I look at Khumtsa and he is already barefoot, looking at me with expectant eyes.It will not hurt to let loose, Grace
"Fine. But if I drown, it's on you two" I say, trying to hide my smile as I take off my shoes.
"Nobody will drown here Grace, unless you're a very short dwarf" Vito replies sarcastically.
"You know that dwarves are short right? 'very short dwarf' is grammatically wrong"
"That's the whole point" she smirks
This girl
"I'm just saying..."
Before I can finish my sentence, there comes another splash which drench both of us. Vito and I look at each other and together we look at Khumtsa who is sporting a ridiculous smirk. He soon realises that we have teamed up against him but it's too late to search for cover as we attack him with continuous splashes of water.
That was the beginning of a good thirty minutes of splashing, laughing and fake drowning. To make it even better, I have not heard the little voice at the back of my mind for the whole time.
There should be more days like this.
And it's back."We should rest, I'm getting tired and hoarse" I suggest, walking towards my shoes.
"We should take pictures!" Vito exclaimed.
I look at Khumtsa with an arched brow and he shrugs.
"Okay, but just a few. For keepsake" he replied.
Needless to say, the photo session lasted longer than expected and by the time we were done, it was almost noon.
"We should head back" Vito says, finally keeping her phone away.
"Yeah, we should" Khumtsa replied, gathering our belongings and his shoe.
Before we start for home, Khumtsa hands me my ruck sack and says, "Grace, we might pass the other two on the way. Do me a favour and don't stop for them, okay? Acha, chalo!"
Before I can reply, he starts his bike and drives off first.
Sure enough, we pass by Tiren and Rachel who were stranded on the side of the road. I did not get a better look because I had to keep my eyes on the road ahead."Didn't they have a bike when we started off?" Vito shouts in my ear.
"Yeah" I shout back.
"It wasn't there!"
"What?" I ask but she doesn't reply until we reach Khumtsa's house.
"What took you so long? Don't tell me you stopped for them" Khumtsa comes out of his frontdoor.
"No we didn't" Vito says, jumping off the bike and making me loose balance for a moment.
"Hey!" I shout after her as they get inside the house.
She's got a lot of energy today.
