Chapter 1
I fiddled with the bunt of cash that was in the palm of my fist, while my patience was running low.
'If these assholes want to get paid they better show up on time'.
The container I rested on with my eyes facing the sky buckled every now and then and immediately made me turn my head towards the street, on edge that someone might be approaching. A dead-end wasn't exactly where I would have preferred to meet, though the venture of my location wasn't worth risking not appearing.
A sound that definitely didn't come from the metal box sparked energy in me and in mere seconds I was on the ground with a light bounce.
"As much as I would like to scold you for being late I really want nothing more than to go home so if our agreement still stands, here's your cash." While speaking and holding out the money I dusted of my jeans with my free hand meanwhile stepping closer to the three men standing before me. The one in the middle scoffed at my statement and as usual, I quickly eye-searched all of them for any visible weapons. Since none was found, and they all had way too tight pants to be able to fit a gun in there, I figured that they most likely only had pocket knives and possibly large knuckles with them.
"You talk as if you were in a position to demand orders." A scowl could be identified on the man's face as I, with a high head talked to them as if they were kids. By the look on their appearance was it easy to say, regardless of the dark that they weren't youths, I'll give them that. Their clearly visible wrinkles and heavy posture seemed to agree. "We were the ones setting this up." He spat out, literally, with a large gob of spittle on the sidewalk behind them.
"Well, since I seem to be making quite a fuss around here I feel somewhat powerful, the fame is making me weak ya know." And there it was, my sarcasm. Instead of commenting, the bulkiest guy who earlier had scoffed stepped closer, eyeing the money I still had in my hand.
"What makes you think we won't sell the information right away?"
Without a second thought, the answer ran calmly out of me. Emphasizing each syllable as if I'd practiced for a school play. "Because I move and I move around fast, by the time he receives intel on me I'll be long gone and you will be accused of selling false information. Wouldn't want that, now would we?" I swirled the bills in my hand and continued.
"So either you take what you came here for and we all walk away splendid with you a couple of thousands richer. Or you make the dumb move and end up six feet under." The air hung heavy around us and my clothes were sticky on my skin. "So what's your decision?"
Even though there was a slight chance that they would take the money and still sell me out, I believed that no one would want to confront him if they didn't have another plan. Plus, then they could have gone to him immediately, with a higher ransom since his capital outruns me by great lengths. Though instead of making business with me they, like most others, were too scared to go to the real source. Therefore I found myself somewhat believing their words.
"Change of plans, sweetie. You're coming with us."
I guess I was wrong.

3rd person POV
"If you ever step into our territory with the label of your gang again you're dead, got that?!" Dark silhouettes melted into the foggy alley, with street lamps flickering above them every once in a while. Two smaller groups stood facing each other and in the silence their heavy breathing was all they heard.
Someone chuckled from the opposite side of the last guy that spoke up. "What makes you think you could kill us even if you tried?"
With the wind blowing around them they raised their voices to be heard. The retort came from the same guy, grinning from ear to ear. "Cause' we've done it before, haven't we?"
That seemed to be the last straw and the other group moved fast forward, ready to attack but stopped abruptly when a loud groan was heard, followed by a plea. The seven heads from both the groups turned towards the other side of the street. At first sight nothing was seen but with the sounds consisting of whimpers and weak screams they matched their eyes with the right location. Four people were fighting and an amused smile rested on the three guys who did not rule the area.
"Looks like you can't keep your place in check. Are you sure you shouldn't change the ranking?" Ignoring the comment followed by laughter, the four others exchanged simple words and gestures.
"Let's go over, man."
The oldest as well as the leader nodded and made their way over, crossing the street. The other gang that was left behind snickered for themselves mumbling ′This should be fun' while following the latter.
