Chapter 9

We walked into their 'lair', as they called it, though it looked more like a huge garage. Inside were the rest of WU and they were all gathered around the TV half asleep.

Josiah had briefly explained their gang and members with extreme enthusiasm.

He was, from what I'd noticed, a relatively quiet guy but when he was passionate about certain topics he gladly poured information like snowflakes during a winter storm. Apparently, they didn't really run a criminal business like most thought but mostly did everything for an adrenaline rush, the after kick. Fights, some minor thefts, and building miniature territories was their way of having a hobby.

"Hey!" Josiah shouted towards his members and I glared at him.

Fucking attention seeker'.

All heads snapped my way and some mouthed good job to their leader, smiling widely.

"Rebekah will stay the night here. I don't want any harassment in any way" He eyed Emeka. "and pay your respect. She's deserved it." Emeka mumbled 'Can't promise anything, I'm sick of it being a sausage show around here.' as a reply.

"How the hell did I deserve it? I've barely spoken to you." From the couch came everyone one by one and greeted me.

"You gave Keiran a black eye. Battered up the other Havoc members and have good punchlines. Forgot to thank you for that before but you deserve a goddamn award." Axton walked up to me as well as squeezed my shoulder and we all went to sit down in the living room.

I looked around and even though they didn't have much furniture it all seemed so personal. The posters on the wall, some quotes written on the table with different inks, clothes splattered all over the floor and I was glad to see three windows open, letting in fresh air. Nothing was trapping any of us inside these walls.

"Sorry it's kind of messy but bachelor cave you know." Josiah looked at me inspecting their place and rubbed the back of his neck. I laughed and shook my head.

"No I like it. It's cool." They beamed and Axton spoke up next.

"I heard you were off school for some years' ignoring Josiah's glare he continued' but there's actually no records of you doing distance studies, none at all to be honest, so where were you?" Trey hit the arm of Axton but then turned his head towards me, probably wondering the same thing.

'What should I say? I mean they are letting me stay here so I don't wanna be dishonest.'

"Erh... I-I was locked up quite a while for eh... personal reasons... so didn't really have any contact with the outside world."

'Well, that doesn't sound strange. Not at all.'

They looked at me in disbelief with question marks written all over their faces.

I groaned and mumbled 'Now you think I'm weird, great'. Trey shoot me a sympathetic look and nudged Axton with his hand.

And this isn't even half of it'.

"Locked up? What, were you like a gamer or something?" A curious voice spoke up with heavy sighs accompanying it.

"Oh my God, how stupid can you be Emeka?" Trey burst out with the following punch towards Emeka from Axton's side.
